Maybe it's just because I own one now, but for the first time in my memory I have been seeing a variety of Expedition ads on TV. Almost more regularly than I see actual vehicles on the street. They sneak up on you, nothing like the attention grabbing "Eastbound and Down" truck ads do.

Very few Expeditions on the road here, but the used 3rd/4th gens fly off the lot pretty quickly nonetheless. I've lost track of how many people have peered out the window at my truck and asked: "Is that a Suburban?" NO! :p

Been seeing more Expies and Gators on the roads in the southwest.

It was definitely a missed opportunity for Ford for a while, when the default big good truck on the road was the F150, but when people shopped for fullsize SUVs, they usually got Tahoes and Yukons

I thought you would be referring to the annoying ads that have started around here.

:O I was always annoyed that my SUV was listed as a station wagon in PA.

That's how I describe mine LOL. It's my giant ford country squire 4x4. Other than towing a few times a year that's all I really use it for. Now let's make that a commercial.

The “Eastbound and Down” Ford pickup truck TV ad is one of the best I’ve seen in years.

I saw an awful "big, but not too big" Expedition commercial. The only feature mentioned is the 'cargo room', WTF? They couldn't come up with anything better than that? By the way, my Mother says that most SUVs are "too big", all the time. The F150 "Eastbound and Down" ad, is advertising malpractice. There wasn't one Ford in Smokey and the Bandit. GM supplied all the cars and the big rig was a Kenworth W900. Ford should hire a new ad guy.

In Sacramento I see several everyday. I can’t go to the grocery store without seeing two or three others in the lot.

In Ohio, if you register your SUV (including truck based such as my 2015 Expedition) as a passenger vehicle, the registration lists the type as “SW” (station wagon).

If you register your SUV (or any other vehicle) as a truck, the registration lists the type as a truck. The truck registration in Ohio costs more than the passenger vehicle registration, and is based upon vehicle weight.

Any passenger car in Ohio can be registered as a “truck”, if the commercial truck plates are purchased (and additional fee paid). It is common to see small passenger cars used for deliveries with truck plates. The truck plates enable the vehicle to park in truck-loading zones, mostly signed in the cities.

I have seen crew cab pickups registered as a passenger vehicle in Ohio, probably to save the owner money.

Vans, to be registered in Ohio as a passenger vehicle, must have second row, forward-facing seats. The “commercial” type vans with no second or third row seating must be registered as a truck.

I'm watch the show "Justified" on Amazon. The feds are using Chevy Tahoes, the police/sheriff Crown Vics and Expeditions, the main character a Lincoln Continental. You don't see many shows using an Expedition as a police vehicle. Oh and a local constable in an AMC Gremlin LOL

I almost see no commercials anymore as I only watch movies & shows via the internet.

99 white coupe just reminded me of a way to drop your registration fee way down. When I purchased my 2000 Expedition 4 1/2 years back, they wanted $250.00 for yearly DMV registration fees here in California. Well that didn't sit well with me at all. So I asked the clerk that was waiting on me, why so much for a 14 year old vehicle? He said because it was registered commercially. I told him I just drove for pleasure, not commercial. His suggestion was to have the inspector outside check all lights and basic stuff, and reregister it as a passenger vehicle. They gave me new plates, and that was that. The difference in the price was huge. It dropped down to $94.00. Anybody paying exorbitant DMV fees might look into if it would lower yours.
