Sorry I've been off the site for a while, here's my dilemma so you may or may not know but last December I traded in my 08 Expedition for a 2012 Chevy Impala due to problems then in March I bought a 1995 Ford Explorer Limited now I have both Vehicles but I've been looking a purchasing Either a 1st gen Expedition or a V10 Excursion (diesel's are still a lot of money), what I'm asking if for an opinion on which to buy Ive found 2 I really like but not sure.

2000 Ford Excursion $9,900

1999 Ford Expedition $3,700

V10 excursion > Expedition (despite not being a v10 fan)
5.4 excursion < Expedition 5.4
Diesel excursion > any wagon truck ever made plain and simple.

I too was in this dilemma, but I couldnt find a diesel with less then 150k miles that was even close to my budget. But a 3rd gen expedition is close enough and Im more then happy.

Maybe I am crazy, but the Expy is half the price... Of course if the price was similar it would be Excursion every day of the week, but you can't beat the prices of 1st gen Expy's...

If i go the rout of getting the excursion the 2012 Impala goes bye bye as I would trade it in but the Expy I would take a loan out and pay cash but the expy is the color and body style I wanted but the Excursion I can keep for years and use it to tow with or i could scrap the Excursion idea nd go with a Ford F250??? and as for my explorer its not going anywhere (sad to say i'm loving the explorer more than I did the expy)

i will tell you this.

my first excursion a 2004, drove it 20k miles in a year and sold it for 2500 more then i paid.

second was a 2000 i paid 7,800 for it and got 12,500 from insurance when it was totaled 2 months later.

bought my current 2002 in 2010 and paid 10,800. just blue booked it for fun tonight. 2 years and 26k miles later it still books for more then i paid for it(11,200..locally they have been asking more then book)

they are one of the rare trucks that you can buy at 7-10k and not really loose a dime on.

Excursion if you don't care about size !! The MPG don't mean anything in either. Expy if looking for a smaller SUV. ( if you can call it small)

Both can be Modified to your taste, Expy a little less.

I would like a Diesel Excursion, or Mod a Expy to Diesel soild front axle. :drool2::drool2:

i agree with the price tag...i would say look at the probs for both and look at the pros/cons for both...better gas mileage with the expedition vs excusrion...i would go expedition unless u need/want the extra room

Ok so I was looking at trading my 2012 Chevy Impala in, I owe around $24k and come to find out that since the new redesigned Impalas came out the value of my car dropped from $20k-$23k to being worth $13k so which prevents me from trading it in without being upside down more than I already am and the Excursion I was looking at was sold and the Expy was sent to auction which is fine there will be others but I'm stuck with my car for a while.
