I met up with my mechanic today to get on the schedule to have my 18 Platinum (98K) looked at after reading P0730 "incorrect gear ratio" and P0430. He highly suggested looking into an extended warranty because the repairs he's seen on the Ford Expeditions - turbos, cats, and transmissions. He stated that they have had no issues working with AUL. I have not yet researched them but I plan to and if anyone has any feedback on them, that would be great. Also, other extended warranty suggestions would be great if you've had good experience.

I recommend Ford's PremiumCare warranty. Bought an 8 yr/ 100k miles warranty last month for my '24. My husband's F 450 has their warranty too. Your Expy would require an inspection because it's out of warranty. If you plan to keep yours many years it's wise to buy one. Also you can cancel the warranty and receive a prorated refund if you trade or sell before warranty ends. There are posts on here about the best (affordable) way to go about buying one.

I bought a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 and purchased the Ford Premium Care service plan (note that it is not an extended warranty, but rather a service plan covered by an insurance company).

I had repeated problems with coverage under the Premium Care plan - at the dealer where it was purchased. I would NOT recommend Ford’s plan to anyone.

The final straw was when the right front and left rear power door lock actuators failed in December 2024. The dealer stated the actuators were bad (not any wiring) but my plan would only cover repairs the right side of the vehicle, not the left (can’t make this stuff up).

The dealer was of no help trying to resolve the issue, telling me the customer had to call the Ford Premium Care Plan. They refused to call on my behalf.

I did, and reached people in the Philippines who were also not helpful.

To get my vehicle back, I had to pay for the repairs, due to the plan refusal.

I filed a written complaint with Ford customer service and was told to file the complaint with the Ford Premium Care plan. I sent a written complaint with documentation and did not receive a response from the plan after one month.

I filed a written complaint with the Michigan BBB and was contacted by Ford’s legal department within two days. The woman was helpful and said Ford would refund my payment (minus my deductible). I received a refund several weeks later, after sending a copy of my repair order and payment receipt.

Several months after I filed the written complaint with the Ford plan (and after I received my refund), I received a short written response from the plan telling me to contact my dealer.

Ford dealers rely on “the computer” to determine what parts are covered under the Ford Premium Care service plain. The dealer will not call on a customer’s behalf and the customer service center is in the Philippines.

I don’t have another service plan to recommend for a Ford, but would NEVER recommend Ford’s service plan.

I solved the problems with the Ford plan (which was still in effect on my vehicle), by selling my Expedition and buying a new Chevrolet Tahoe Premier 4WD and a long-term General Motors Protection Plan (which I have ALWAYS had good service from on other GM vehicles).

I wouldn’t get anything other than a ford one. If those are bad you haven’t seen anything yet. My mom thought she was getting a Mazda warranty. Nope. Didn’t read the papers. Signed and went on. At selling dealer now with blown head gasket and cracked head. Won’t cover. What else would it be for? Clearly within the 8 years and whatever miles since only 42k on the clock.

Had great experience with Fidelity's Gold extended warranty when we bought our '19 Expi in 2020 (at ~35k miles). Over the 72k mile term, they covered all four struts, transmission replacement (CDF issue), and cam phasers w/o a fight. Must've paid out 4-5x what the plan cost us. FWIW, service rep at our dealer said that they're the best non-Ford warranty to work with.
