Found a low wattage Kicker sub that fits nicely in the factory sub box with minor modification. Less than $50 and it works well with the factory amp. Sounds very good for a little 8". :head3:

I repacked the box with poly-fill. Had to cut a small section out of the back for depth, which i re-sealed with styrofoam once the sub was in place. Also had to drill new bolt holes because the pattern was different. Total time invested was about 45 mins. This is an extremely cheap and easy upgrade to the sound system and I was skeptical but very impressed with the performance.

I will post pics and the model number to the sub later if anyone is interested.

Here I had to cut about a half inch off with a dremel. Repacked with styrofoam which is held in place by the sub.

Here is the box with the sub installed.

Here is the finished product.

Wow, looks great, used to run kicker comps back in the late 80s, I had a 50 dollar mtx put in, but it is just a little better than stock (mach 460 stock)...I soon want to add a 12 or two, placing the amps in the sub box area with 12dc fans to keep them cool...just in the planning stages and capital acquisition stage...that seems to linger on and on?!

Looks great!

It wasn't too bad. I just pulled the panel out enough to get the box out so I didn't remove the seat belts. Took me about 15 mins to get the whole thing out.

Was it as big of a PIMA to get to it as I have seen advertised???

+1. slow & methodical.

realizing there is a bolt back there holding the OEM speaker in place is the challenge and reassembly to get the full resonation.

I used a Legacy LPW899 & like Freeway stated, any 8" works.

I would LOVE to see this.

Some of the stuff I saw had everything removed on the passenger side...

I took the stock box and then just added some 2x4 on the rim of my sub like a back spacer and put some expanding foam in covered in felt and this was my final product

after I mounted the amp it looked like this I still have to clean it up it looks like poop right now but sounds incredible

Got pics? I'd like to drop a sub in as well. Did you use an amp with your kicker? Got pics of how to take thatput in sub?

Hey guys I did a factory sub replacement as well but I widened the box out to accommodate a 12" and all I had to do was make a spacer for the box and every thing cleared after adding 2" of a wood ring to top of the box and as for the larger amp I just mounted it next to the sub on the out side of the panel. I will get some pics up later
