greetings,

I am pretty new to this so hopefully someon can help me out or send me to the right thread.

My wife told me today that her 06 limited just stopped running and the engine fail safe came on. She was able to pull over and it did restart. She said she had to take it home because it obviously was not running right.

I do not drive it very often but she said that at about 40 mph it was "kicking and bucking". That was the only way she knew to describe it.

I read where this could be the TPS sensor or the throttle body.

Any ideas or suggestions. It has 114,000 miles on it and I have not ever had any issues with it.

I am handy enough to probably replace a part that is not internal but need to know where to start.

Thanks,

Shawn

Ok, i do see when reading a bit more that it could be a COP of which I have replaced in my BMW before. Going to see about having the codes read even though the light is not on. Otherwise it will be off the the shop.

Fail Safe Mode is usually associated with the TPS or throttle body. You will have to replace the whole TB to fix the issue if this is indeed your problem. Good luck.
