I recently had a flowmaster 40 series SI/SO muffler put on my truck and had the rear cats deleted and my exhaust STILL isn't loud. I had the rear cats deleted because it sounded like a stock muffler was on it after i installed the flowmaster 40 series alone. Is there something else I need to do to it??? I'm lost right now and not happy after spending 240 bucks.

How big is the piping? If you want loud, you have to subtract the muffler... It does just that, muffle. Magnaflow and Flowmaster will give you good deep notes, but it is usually not going to scare anybody awake as you drive by. My glasspack is loud, but still not very loud. I am no exhaust expert by any means, but the trucks with that "holy shit I can hear that thing a half mile off" sound to them are usually straight piped with decent size tips.

It's the stock 2 1/2'' piping and I notice it but i thought it would be louder. Everything is stock besides the flowmaster and the rear cats deleted.

I subbed a glasspack in for the muffler, and left everything else stock. I had the same reaction. I ended up cutting the tailpipe back off and just ending it before the rear axle. Deeper and louder, but also drones quite a bit (doesn't bother me) and heats up the rear cargo floor on long trips. A lot of it has to do with the size piping.

Also keep in mind, it is much different sitting in the driver's seat than being on the sidewalk. My truck sounds totally different to me when someone drives it past me. This does not happen too often, but once in a while I have someone else do so to see if I can hear sounds and rattles that need to be fixed haha

I have Flowmaster super 44, and a 4" tip. Otherwise stock pipes and cats still intact.

It has some drone inside between 1800 and 2000 rpm, other than that nice and quiet inside. People turn their heads when I drive by, and my wife tells me she can hear me a long way from home, hehe. A very deep and nice tone outside.

I was told I couldn't run a cat-back system on my truck nor duals because of the independent rear suspension. I can barely hear it when my wife starts it to take the kids to school. What do you recommend other just saying forget it and just going back stock?

i have cat back system...DUALS...can be down with the IRS...you will have to drop the spare tire for them to do it since theres not enough room for them to do it with the spare in place...drop the spare...when they finish the spar can go back up
