Frozen lock again

So my drivers side door lock froze solid in the middle of a blizzard. Key couldn’t turn the lock open, I had to go through the back and open door. Now actuator makes no attempt or noise to lock or unlock the drivers door that I can hear and the key does not unlock it.

Does Ford sell an entirely new lock actuator and lockset kit for these doors?

It is possible it’s too frozen for the actuator to work, because I can’t get the key to turn in the slot at all. I guess I’ll have to wait and find out until next thaw if the actuator is broken or not.

This issue just keeps popping up and I’d like to end it once and for all!

Thought I’d add a search for this on F-150 forum or FTE yields hundreds of results all the way to brand new vehicles. In fact ford has bought back many 2018s after finding no solution for owners. This was always an issue on 11th gen (04-08) F-150s....can’t beleive they still haven’t figured it out.

Moisture in door frozen. On my 08 the rubber wiper along the bottom of the window has a gap that allows water to run into door cavity. Living in Florida that is no problem but with freezing temps that is a problem. Check that the rubber is touching the glass. I have had to replace window actuator on passenger door and while at it I checked the drivers door and made sure it was operating freely. Also made sure that water/moisture would run out the bottom of the door. I also use WD-40 on the lock. Maybe it is good they only gave us one lock to freeze.

The seal does touch the window and make contact but I’m sure some water gets down it. Every time you open the window I’d think some gets down. Drains all work on the door. Thawed it out on drive yesterday and the lock worked again. Just want to stop it because it happens in blizzards and high windchill (absolute worst times) lol.

I sprayed stuff in it earlier in the winter and it hasn’t happened until now.
