Before I roll around under my truck, can someone tell me the approximate location of the fuel filter. 2007 EL Limited. I have done many E150's and Explorers and finding it is usually the hardest part.

It "should" be on the frame rail, I believe on the drivers side. Just follow the fuel line from the tank and you'll run into it.

Hey thanks. FYI it is actually attached by a bracket to the front of the fuel tank. Right under drivers seat.

Watch the mythbuster episode on them trying to get a cars gas tank to explode by running it off a cliff... they found that the upper middle part of the chassis is actually the least likely place to get impacted.

Got an 03 and it was hidden by a cover you have to remove. It kinda snaps in on the front of the fuel tank...

If you have the tool, its a 5 minute job... Just did mine today... No problems at all..

No cover on my 07. Real easy to get to, just the weather here in northern Illinois went to hell and to do any work on this EL I need the garage door open, so I'll wait for better temps. I have the tool as I drove E-150's for years.

This is the new part # And yes you need to buy tool I was mistaken. Lisle sells a set at advance auto for $12 it’s called an OEM A/C and gas line quick connect set. You pull the blue plastic tabs out and insert the tool to release. Harder than it sounds.

Here are the “tools” (lisle brand made in USA):

A new one for my 2008 arrived today. Let me know how much those "quick disconnects" fight you.

They fight you, the two plastic connectors on the right were OK but still took some time. The metal one on the left was a royal PITA and took many tries to get off. You need to push the fuel line inward while simultaneously pushing to tool into the tab to get it to release. They go back on easy it’s just getting them off.
