Within the last year, I had my malfunctioning fuel pump replaced on my 2002 Expedition. I began having problems with fuel gauge only registering 3/4 with a full tank, however; my trip computer (console in head liner) was fairly accurate and the electronic odometer still worked, so I did not worry. Although pump was under warranty, dealer wanted $400 to replace. Already paid $800 for new part and labor. So I chose to just watch odometer and trip computer to determine gas needs

I went to add gas yesterday. Tank was nearly empty and LOW FUEL light was on. Trip computer indicated 7 miles to empty.

After I added gas, the fuel gauge remained on empty with LOW FUEL light on although I had added 15 gallons. Trip computer indicated 243 miles to empty. Trip Odometer was visible and reset to zero.

After I drove for about 10 minutes the trip computer went blank and indicated a "C0" on screen for miles to empty. Miles per gallon screen was still visible and functioning and the compass still works.

After shutting engine off and restarting, trip computer was visible, for about 2 minutes then "C0" code shows. Fuel Gauge and LOW FUEL indicator still on.

Anyone see this problem and got suggestions on what to check

Thanks

There are a few "could be's" that will cause the problem. First would be fuel level sender, easiest way to check that would be drop the tank and unplug the pump/sender. Plug in a new sender to see if the gauge registers correctly by moving the float up and down. If so, open the tank and swap senders. If not then I'd check the harness and finally the electronics.
