I think it’s the shadow. Dealer ordered it to the truck and Ford gave me a 2 year unlimited mile warranty on it.

It actually wasn't to bad. Her car came from Arizona so underneath is very clean nothing rusted together yet. The swap for all 4 corners took me 4 hours.

Surprised they didn't make you buy and install the U joints separately. Not a bad price for such an involved part. Hey, sometimes things break.
Shove some grease atop those caps to keep the rust out for a few years.

The bearings are but I think he's saying on the outside of the bearing caps. To keep moisture from getting to them. Not Sure it would work but might be worth trying
