Alright I have an 03 XLT my question is how do I know if it is an FX4 or not there are no decals on it to designate FX4. But It has all the skid plates under it like the "Off Road" package of the F-150 that the FX4 replaced right?

Thanks

Interesting...

Apparently, there was a package code 240B for that year that was a XLT with FX4 bits...

I don't see any indication that there were any decals.

My guess is Ford intended give the Expy the capability, but not the over all flash of the F150 with decals.

No badge and I don't think it has black head light housings. Would it be differnt since it is a SSV.

well that explains it. if it is a special service vehicle, originally designated for police or other government agencies, it has the skid plates. you should have an upgraded alternator and some other things as well.

Normal Ford SSV have beefier cooling and electrics (Alt)...

Someone had a total write up of all the SSV alternative parts and upgrades...

Sadly I don't remember if it was here.

Can you read the Axle code off the Ford build placard?

Your 2003 is most likely a limited slip as the electronic traction control wasn't around and the 4x4s normally had them... Look for a H6 axle code on the placard on the drivers door frame.
