Halogens on Platinum

I went with these for the reverse bulb. 2000 lumens. I have them on the Raptor, and they make a nice bright area for backing up. Clearly see the difference on the reverse camera.

How easy (hard) is it to pull the housing?

Easy.

Gently pull off the trim from below the hatch strut. Then remove two 10mm bolts.

Then you need to gently giggle it until it comes out.

I’ll make a video when my bulbs come in.

So, big colour change! The LED is also more spread while the halogen has a hotspot in the middle.

Tonight I replaced my puddle lights with the ones linked earlier from DaytimeBrightLites.com. I'm pretty happy with them. They're MUCH brighter than stock. The color temperature according to the box (the website did not specify) is 5500k and the color looks to be a good match for the LED DRLs. The bulbs were well packaged and installation was a cinch. See below photos for before/after. Sorry for crappy cell phone quality...didn't feel like breaking out the real camera.

I am less stoked about the included license plate lights. They are flat on top like a T, where the stem of the T goes into the receptacle which is oriented left-to-right in the housing, parallel to the ground, and the LEDs are a flat plate perpendicular to that and parallel to the side of the vehicle when installed. The problem is the license plate bulb housing does not seem to have any reflective material in it, and both are oriented the same direction. So the beam of light cast by these bulbs/housings once installed is angled to the right. See the photo.

There doesn't appear to be a way to reverse the passenger side housing as it is keyed to accept the retention clip on the right side of the opening.

Bottom line if these were designed to stick out farther from the recepticle and shoot light down rather than to the side, the light pattern would look a lot better. As it is I'll be exploring other options.

The color temp seemed a little too cool but the brightness was spot on; same as OEM or maybe a tad dimmer.

What wheels are those? ...cuz they ain’t platinum wheels.

And I agree. The stock puddles are a joke. The upgraded ones are as bright as they should have been from the factory and match the light temp of the rest of the vehicle. I like mine too. [emoji6]

Ha I wondered if anybody would notice the wheels. I had the dealer swap the 22's that came with my vehicle for 20's off a Limited they had on the lot when I took delivery. Mostly for more tire choices but I also just prefer to have more sidewall. I happen to like the look of these wheels better than the 22s as well.

Hard to say since I only ever drove Expys with 22s on various test drives. I want to say that potholes etc arent as harsh but that could be placebo.

I have another thread called "Jittery ride with CCD" or something like that. It's possible that the CCD suspension is tuned to only work with 22" wheels but that doesn't make sense. More sidewall, lower tire pressure, and less unsprung weight shouldn't produce body vibrations where none existed before.

I still want to go test drive another Expy with 22s at some point just to see if I notice a difference.

As far as I know nobody else who has posted on this forum has both 20" wheels and CCD suspension.

I thought they were the Ltd wheels. But I also thought you might have swapped for the 22s off a Ltd F150 or something.

That’s me. The ride is fine. It’s only slightly more plush due to the HUGE sidewalls.

I’m actively looking for 20s. I can’t stand the ugliness any more. Haha

Do these work on the 2018 Expedition. When I plug 2018 Ford Expedition in to the "See if it fits your vehicle" test, it says they are not compatible with the Expedition. Want to brighten my reverse lights.

They were on back order and I got them a few weeks back. I haven't had a chance to install them yet.

I think so, although I was pretty sure the reverse lights were already LEDs. Shows you what I know.

Reverse were halogen. I swapped mine with LEDs, same for license plate. As for puddle lights, I just don't care.
