Hi all, I’m Steph. (Forgot to do a member check-in)

My parents recently handed over the keys to the Expedition. I’ve had it for a little over a year now. I really wanted something smaller (kind of like a Jeep Wrangler or a small car) but I think my parents wanted me in something bigger and safer.

I mainly drive it back-and-forth from college, going for an Applied Science Degree.

I hate parking it on campus, as campus parking is more biased toward smaller vehicles. Most are small cars like Honda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, etc.

It has 232,000 miles, most of which were spent road-tripping on family vacations. Lots of childhood memories made with it. The interior is still vault-like quiet, no rattles or squeaks. It does use a little oil, but the engine runs quiet and at normal temp, no knocking or rattling. No smoke from the tailpipe.

The only photo I currently have of it (taken after a short trip from college, unloading my books and gear)...

I just hope it lasts me through college. Will probably hang around the forums to ask maintenance questions, DIY questions, etc. Trying to learn everything I can about Expeditions to keep this one serviced properly.

From what you have described, it will last forever... These are good trucks for high miles. Oh and I know your pain when it comes to campus parking. My tires just about touch the lines on both sides of the spaces.

Welcome to the forum!

welcome! lots of miles but she looks well cared for.

the expy feels pretty small to me and very easy to park, but maybe because i drive my excursion more.

Welcome. I learned quickly to back into the spaces at school. It's easier for me all the way around.

Thanks for the welcome. With time, I’m sure I’ll be able to park it like a pro. I’m already better at it than when I first drove it to school. Will try backing into parking spots.

I like driving it. The more time I spend behind the wheel, the more I like it. Even with all the miles, it still has excellent steering feedback (for a truck I mean, I do realize it’s not a sports car). Someone pulled-out in front of me a few weeks ago on the highway, and I had to swerve to miss them. I was surprised at how quick the Expy responded.

So far, things I have done to it include changing the engine oil and oil filter - for the first time on my own (no help from anyone). It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience. I also checked the transmission fluid, put in a new air filter, new windshield wipers, new car battery, and lastly a new alternator (my dad had to help with that though).

Next on the list is to check the differential fluid, and then new brakes, and new tires. It really needs some new tires.

Welcome. I'm sure you will come to love it. I bought mine for the same reasons you got yours. To WIN if ever in an accident! But, much like you, I've gotten used to the size and absolutely love it.

Check the oil cooler line, on my expedition it leaked from those hoses. Took me 3years to find out!And it was using oil till I replaced it

Where is the oil cooler line exactly? (You’ll have to forgive me, still trying to learn where everything is at on this thing)

Thanks for the info though!
