Hi all, I'm debating getting a 2x axle dump trailer to tow 3 tons of coal 50-80 miles once or twice a year. Plus for hauling around building and landscaping supplies.
I've never towed anything before. Can the expy handle it? What do I need to know about towing with our trucks?
Thanks

Expy will handle that just fine. Standard towing practices apply. Nothing different about the Ex.

You could actually add about two more tons on your trailer and still be fine, but don’t push the upper limits or go beyond the towing capacity specified by Ford......

Two more tons? So, 10,000 plus the weight of the trailer? My 2017 with tow package is rated for 9,000 pounds with a weight distributing hitch. I would not feel comfortable towing 10k plus trailer weight.

Assuming you have the heavy duty tow package, sure. You would be cutting it close if you have the standard duty tow package. Look for the 7-pin connector and a brake controller.

How will the rear handle the tongue weight? I want to tow a 7500 pound enclosed trailer but the rear sags with the tongue weight. Its aluminum and can't use the weight distribution hitch.
