Ok, I'm going to try to help but I may need a few more answers. First of all, burning it to the ground would only cause more problems. Second, the fog lamps are wired to only come on when the headlights are in low beam. There are four fuses for the headlights and two for the fog lamps. Since the fog lamps work, we'll forget them for now. The fuses for the headlamps are:
1. A 30 amp in the power distribution box- location #8
2. Two 10amp fuses for low beams- locations #26 & 28
3. A 20 amp fuse for the high beams- location #16
Have you checked the bulbs. I know this may seem trival, but it is possible for you not to have known that one was out and then the other went out. When you used the dimmer switch could you tell if the lights were the high beams or low beams that worked? You can tell by the instrument cluster indicator.
If fuses and bulbs are good, then the "multi-function" switch (dimmer\turn signal) is mostlly likely the problem. There is a TSB on it for turn signal problems, and I know there have been other problems with it.
I hope this helps, if not let me know and we'll work it out.
