I finally took the time to dig into my 2015’s climate seat failure. Turns out, sometimes your lights on the dash will work and stay on just as if the system is working. This was my case. They didn’t come on and then immediately off like others have experienced. But I indeed have the burnt pin issue on the harness. So, I don’t really like the long replacement harness much and wondered if I could just splice the ground wires together and bypass the plug on that one pin? From what I understand, the replacement harness actually uses the pin next to the burnt one as well to distribute the ground between two pins instead of just one. Anyone have some good info to point me in a better direction? d8c70c9b554701c36e95b9b937d0fa4a.jpg

Like the paint pealing, I can't believe Ford never corrected this issue. No excuse and real disappointing. My 07 has the same problem. I hope it doesn't happen to my 17. I haven't bothered screwing with it on my 07, but I probably will eventually.
I like your idea of the bypass. I don't even know what it looks like under the passenger seat yet. Does that plug right into the module or is it another harness? If it's another harness, that's an easy one to bypass. If not, I'd probably try to replace the pin. Then again, it obviously is too small a gauge so I'd probably try to beef it up somehow or it would just do it again.

And now fixed. I literally soldered a single wire between the burnt pin and the pin next to it, drilled through the plug and ran said wire straight to the ground wire on the harness (black and white stripe) spliced it in and viola I have heated and cooled seats again for the first time in three years. Why didn’t I do this sooner? Cushy *****

2 temp settings on my 2007 Eddie Bauer, aren’t you fancy with your 3 settings *snubs nose* :D

What about the 5 settings on the 2nd Gen? I feel like they keep going backwards w options sometimes.

It's nice to get a win here and there with an easy fix. Good to know of the issue, when shopping back in the spring I ran across one that had no heated/cooled seat functionality but no other issues, perhaps this was the problem?

Looks like Navigators have 3 levels but Expeditions only 2 from 2007-14. Starting in 2015, Expeditions also have 3 levels for both heating and cooling.

I know the 07-14 system pretty well. We have twin blowers and twin TED (Thermal Electric Devices) per seat that heat and cool the air as the blower forces it through the TED then through in seat ducts which come out the perforated leather as heated or cooled air. This is a lot of load to put on that little pin, now multiply that by 2 seats and you have 4 blowers and 4 TED units running.....she draws some juice. My 2007 Expedition EL Eddie Bauer will not allow you to run the Climate Control Seats unless the engine running and showing RPM on the tach. You cannot run them like other accessories with just key on. I assume Ford did this to save the battery in engine off conditions. The updated harness spreads out the load to prevent future burns which is why the harness is recommended. I have read somewhere the 15-17 uses old fashioned fan blades instead of squirrel cage blowers like the 07-14 before bobs post but I can not verify that for sure since I haven’t seen that. Can anyone verify this difference? The plug and module appears to be same through all years.

I've got the correct crimp dies so I just ordered the connector and terminals only from customconnectorkits. shipped same day. Seems to be the same as the Escalade uses. I'll update if there's any problems. Don't know if I can post links, someone let me know and if I can I'll do that.

Muddy, Is that plug under the passenger seat? I’m having same issue. I can’t be sure, but I think it began after I disconnected my battery to clean terminals and posts. I currently don’t have a good feel about the location. Thanks. Lee

Sometime around 2009-10 the controls were upgraded to have 3 levels of heat and 3 levels of cooling. This was also the case for Navigators.
My ‘14 KR only has two levels... unless you count “off” as a level.

It also only has one cigarette lighter socket under the controls, not two like JExp shows.

And here I thought mine was the fanciest. :anitoof:
