let me start by stating that i am new to the forum and welcome all opinions and answers on any questions i might ask. Thanks ahead of time for anyone that might be able to help.
Now, down to business. I have 00 expy with about 178k and she is showing her wear. when we bought the truck almost 2 years ago it had a slight vibration which felt as if it came from directly under the driver floor board. You could only feel the vibration when you pushed the throttle down and the truck had to kick down a gear to pick up speed. Now, when it kicks down and i believe the a4wd kicks in as well, the truck tries to pull me off the road to the right and the vibration is really loud. I know as of the moment that i need to replace ball joints all around, its just due. The steering wheel has some play in it but that's most likely the joints and tie rods. maybe not, who knows. I think what is happening is the a4wd is kicking in when i accelerate for some unknown reason and the left shaft is not getting any torque causing the pull. When i baby the throttle it will not do any of the above mentioned. Aside from the play in the wheel, that's always there.
Is this a safe assumption? and if so what would be the first step in identifying why the shaft isn't getting torque? Why my a4wd is kicking in under acceleration? I also know the truck needs a tune up and the egr valve needs to be replaced and it causes the truck to hesitate badly under 3/4 to WOT.
Perhaps the drive train is also causing the hesitation?
So there in a nutshell is my plight, any and all help is appreciated here. Thanks!
