Hi Guys!
I have my 1999 Expedition, which we have here in the Philippines where I live as an Expat.
My horn sounds, randomly, and if I hit the center of the steering wheel it stops, which leads me to believe the button is just getting stuck.
The dust here from the volcanic eruption 20 years ago mixes with water and little switches, over time, get stuck.
Plus it's a 17 year old car.
I need to clean the electronics and the engine and the mass air flow sensor all the time.
What could I do about the horn switch if I was to open it and just try to spray something in there and unstick it?
Already disconnected the battery and reset, and sprayed WD40 in door latches to make sure nothing is tripping alarm.
Yesterday alarm was sounding randomly, AND when I chirped the car.
Resetting seemed to fix that --- plus we've had DOOR OPEN light on when the doors are all closed. WD40 in dusty door latches seems to have fixed that.
I'm afraid to remove the rubber over the air bag and give the button a squirt of electronics cleaner, but might do the trick.
My first thought is electronics cleaner, which I have.
NOT WD 40.
any thoughts?
