Hi Guys!
I have my 1999 Expedition, which we have here in the Philippines where I live as an Expat.

My horn sounds, randomly, and if I hit the center of the steering wheel it stops, which leads me to believe the button is just getting stuck.

The dust here from the volcanic eruption 20 years ago mixes with water and little switches, over time, get stuck.

Plus it's a 17 year old car.

I need to clean the electronics and the engine and the mass air flow sensor all the time.

What could I do about the horn switch if I was to open it and just try to spray something in there and unstick it?

Already disconnected the battery and reset, and sprayed WD40 in door latches to make sure nothing is tripping alarm.
Yesterday alarm was sounding randomly, AND when I chirped the car.
Resetting seemed to fix that --- plus we've had DOOR OPEN light on when the doors are all closed. WD40 in dusty door latches seems to have fixed that.

I'm afraid to remove the rubber over the air bag and give the button a squirt of electronics cleaner, but might do the trick.

My first thought is electronics cleaner, which I have.
NOT WD 40.

any thoughts?

I dont have an answer but some food for thought.... and I do hear you on you hitting the steering wheel center, but thought to mention the below.

so when sounding, have you tried the remote fob? the keyless entry bad?
I ask as I've experienced the anti theft sounding as the battery would be low and also there are other things that can sound the horn.

Thought I read something regarding the back glass having issues... or one door / hatch as a known issue for the open door warning.

Since you joined in 2014, i take it that you've owned for a few years... did this just now start? On the flip side, does it work everytime you actually try to use it while driving and it perform exactly as it should have (duration and volume)?

Mabuhay! You could remove the steering wheel airbag and horn switch assembly by removing the two retaining screws. Before you do that, disconnect the negative cable first then the positive battery cable and wait a few minutes before working for the back up power supply to be depleted to avoid injury. Then you could pull the assembly out and clean it as you wish.

unplug the horn from the harness under the bumper. When you press the horn you should hear the relay click. If its not clicking as you press and release you could have a bad relay OR the horn switch is sticking.
