Just wanted to stop by and give a big HI to everyone. Even though I don't have an Expedition I'll be hanging around. I'm 17 years old, don't have a car yet but my mom has a '99 Explorer XLT. I'm hoping I can get my own Explorer, but there's a good chance I'll have to settle for an Escape.
When I first got my lerners permit, I didn't think it was such a good idea for me to learn to drive on the Explorer. I took driving lessons and drove a '95 Escort seden and a '01 Focus seden. My lessons went well, but at he time I took my road test I just wasn't ready and I did really bad. This past spring I started driving my moms Explorer, and after driving that I NEVER EVER wanna go back to a car. It was nice learning to drive on a midgit car, but I'm an SUV guy.
Before my mom had the Explorer, we had a 1980 Bronco XLT. That was one hell of a truck. It mad it through 20 years of Buffalo winters. AFAIK, it was in 3 minor accidents during the 20 years shes had it and there was hardly any edivence. She was rear ended once, mangeled a deer, and went into a ditch once. With those solid steel front and rear bumpers there was no damage.
We are a big time Ford family, when my grandfather farmed he had a Ford 4500 and 6000 tractors. My uncle had a 1974 F-150 that he ran until '92 when he bought his current F-350.
I wish we had an Expedition, but we couldn't afford it. The Bronco was a great SUV, even though the radio was junk, it had an 8track player, vinal seats (freeze in the winter and fry in the summer), got ~12 miles to the gallon, very noisy, no A/C, it was still an awesome truck!
