How much should I be paying for a full-synthetic oil and filter change in Philadelphia?

Buy and bring your own oil and filter. Call first to get the labor charge. I go to a major shop here. It's $25 and they check fluids and tire pressure. Then I know what I'm putting in my vehicles, not what I'm being told.

Here in Central Texas, a full synthetic oil change on my 03 expedition runs between $110 and $120. Or I can do it myself for about $40, but then I have to take the old oil to a recycler, usually an auto parts store like O'Reilley's.

My full synthetic and quick lookover was $139....I was told they would charge extra for brake insp also. (they dont look at breaks during there oil change and inspection) Getting ridiculous View attachment 82684
Don’t feel too bad. Our ‘23 Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0 (I know, a ridiculously long model name) is coming up on its 2 year, 20k mi service. One dealer in the Chicago suburbs quoted $1,800 for oil, filer, cabin filter, brake flush, and windshield wipers.

The car has a little over 4k miles so the only thing needed is the oil and filter changed. Same dealer quoted $900, plus tax, for just the oil and filter change. The oil is an unusual C40 spec so only Mobil 1 and Motul make the oil and runs around $10/qt and needs about 8qts. A kit with oil filter, o ring, and drain plug is about $40. So for $120 in parts vs. almost $1k, I’ll put the car on my lift and do it my self. An oil analysis from Blackstone labs plus receipts should be proof in case of a warranty claim.

I understand the Bentley, Ferrari, and Lambo owners get hosed way worse.

NE PA - $75-100 at independent shops (and even fairly often at some of the non-Ford dealers).
