Tried a search in this section and couldn't find my answer, unless my search terms are off.

I'm gonna be replacing the headlight housing on my wife's 07 el xlt. I have a set of anzos on order. I already tried pulling the passenger side to make sure it would be a quick swap. Removed the 2 10mm bolts on top and wiggled the two pins loose on the side but the bottom seems to be hung around the top of the bumper cover. Is there something else down there? Does the bumper cover need to come off?

There is nothing behind the bumper but there is a pin on the grill side of the housing. Its the same type of pin as the side and just pulls out. Remove the bolts, pop the grill side pin out then the 2 end pins. Doing the end pins first makes it jam up and won't come out.

That grill side pin must be what it was, then. Thanks.

Take a vinyl prybar and nudge it out. It's a tight fit.

PS not 100% sure it's necessary, but best take out the top adjustment screw knob thingie too

At least that's what I did to my 09 and it worked fine...twice (had the anzos out later for cheap HID kit install). should be the same on 07

PPS chances are you'll regret not buying the slightly more expensive U-bar lights. Anzos do look kinda tacky after a while

If you need wiring instructions for the halos, go look up the anzos on amazon, one of the first reviews describes what to splice.... Anzo doesnt bother including instructions

For half decent light output, get a cheapie 35w HID kit (~$30). It works just fine in the Anzo projectors. Stock anzo bulbs SUCK. Also note that they use a different bulb size, look it up on the Anzo site....I THINK it's H1 and H7, but can't remember which is high beam and which is low. Imho, with HIDs there's really no need for high beams, just get the lows

Thanks. Even if the the stock housings break, its no real biggie. The back side where the bulb goes in is melted, so the bulb shoots up at about 30 degrees, and the left side is hazed and rock chipped bad too.

Ugh....nothing screams "replace me now" like hazy messed up lenses and halogen lights after a couple night drives squinting ahead trying to dodge assorted bums raccoons and skateboarders

If one of the old ones is somewhat intact, keep it tho. Got like 80 bucks on craigslist for mine.

If I don't damage the driver's side when I remove it, I will try to restore the lens since its a little hazy, and see if I can sell it. The passenger side is trash. I did a search for Amazon reviews and saw that there is a youtube video to watch, I just haven't looked for it yet. The lights won't be here for an about 5 days, so I have plenty of time. Thanks for your help.

Start wet sanding with 600 and work your way up to 2000-3000 then get a good 2k clear coat on it. They'll look like new and you'll get top dollar for it. If you just use a restore kit on them your just stripping the UV coating and they'll be cloudy a month later.

3000 grit sandpaper?

Lol.

What the store calls 2000-3000 grit sandpaper, we call BROWN PAPER BAG.
