Lower shock bolt.

I can't get 10.9 bolts locally, and had nothing else to put in so I put them back in (the other one wasn't quite as bad).

What would cause this?

I have to order replacements. I measured with calipers. 11.8mm diameter x 3inches. So are they 12mm bolts, or an SAE size?

Just did all 4 shocks on mine and I didn't notice anything like that. Could it have been bad bushings rubbing on the bolt?

I tightened mine and the bolts were fine, but it seems as the design could have been better. My rear was making noise and it turned out it was loose lower shock bolts. I removed them, cleaned them up and put them back in tighter, all is well.

just wear and stress, my xj front control arm bushing bolts ( lowers look identical) just years of pounding, sand and wear.
