Hey guys, was driving my future expy (currently my mom's truck) the other day and it was all over on the gravel roads. When I got home, I got to looking and both of the sway bar links were gone and the sway bar was just laying there. And for once, these parts were cheap and in stock!! I picked the links up at a local parts store for about ten bucks a piece. Even though its a pretty easy installation, I figured I'll just through up a HOW-TO on here.
Steps:
1. 1- 9/16 wrench; 1-9/16 deep well socket on 3/8 rachet
2. Put washer on bolt, then bushing with flat skinny part pointing away from washer.
3. Put bolt through top of the sway bar, put bushing and washer on the opposite as on the top side.
4. Put spacer on and then washer and bushing, and put through hole in control arm.
5. Put bushing on, then washer and nut.
6. Repeat on the other side.
7. Tighten both of the bolts.
8. Enjoy your better handling expy :)

This was an easy installation and took me only 15 minutes to do. The truck now handles a lot better. Hope this helps you guys if you experience the same problems.

I will also try to put up a how to on replacing rear end bearings and seals in a couple of weeks when I can get into my barn without tearing up my entire yard, and then soon followed by Rancho RS5000 shocks.

It should be noted that if you over tighten those links, the washers will bite through the poly and destroy them over time. If the poly bushing squeezes to the point that it's bigger than the washer, you probably over tightened it.

Also, as with all poly bushings, a little lube will prevent squeeking.

I did my end links and sway bar bushings yesterday and it was not so easy.

The drive side was cake, no problems, the passenger was a dam nightmare.

The sleeve in the middle was stuck and jammed with so much dirt and rust that it wouldnt move.

I had to literally cut the dam things out. i was pissed.

it was worth it though the truck i handling better.

i have to do the rear sway bar bushings this weekend. they are completly broken and jacked up.

I should really do that one of these days too. I've been driving around with my sway bar disconnected for over 3 years now. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

I did mine this past week on my 99. The center sleeve was rusted in place and had to cut the top half out using a cut off wheel. As noted by the original poster, it's best to install both loosely before tightening the bolts. Once one is tightened, the other side wont have enough room to install the assembly.
