My truck believes my doors are always ajar. Due to this my interior lights don't like to shut off. Any idea or things I should check?

door switches stick
My mechanic said that sticking switches in the doors is a common problem for Fords when he noticed I had a door ajar indicator on. I believe what he did was to spray each of the door latches (where the switches are) with some WD40, then opened and closed each door about 10 times.
