Oh yeah sounds a lot betterAs much as I’m not usually a huge fan of K&N intakes, I’ve got to admit that one looks pretty dang clean.
Getting any turbo whistle through it?
You get any CELs after install?Nice. I got the same one
I’m more concerned with the CEL I got with code P04db for crankcase ventilation system disconnected? Only thing I had to unplug was an air temperature sensor so idk what’s going on with tThat looks tight, notice any improvement in power?
Silencers are out and you can hear the turbos a little more.Did you also take the silencers out of the piping to the turbos? Just curious if that further increases the turbo noise.
Where did you get yours at or how much was it? Autozone has them for $305 then I have a 20% off coupon. Puts it at $245ish.
I have tried to read on this. Are many others having the CEL issue?
I am a fan of K&N type filters because I can save money in the long run. $50 for a K&N drop-in (clean and re-use) vs $20 for a standard drop in (not re-usable so buy a new one each time). The CAI system sounds appealing but I doubt I will ever get a tune so probably not worth it except for the turbo noise.
Hey Andy, I have the pre oiled filter that the system came with (cone type)Do you have to oil the filter or is it a plain paper filter?
On the right side of the interior of the air intake box, you will notice a hole cut into the side that looks like it is connected somewhere near the wheel well where the air is fed in. Remove the rectangular filter and you won't miss it.K&N has dry filters? All mine have been oiled.
How does the air get into this setup? Is there an intake via the fender. Been a while since I looked under there.
Chuck
The weather stripping around the top of the box is about 2” thick and creates a tight seal when the hood is closed to keep excess dirt out and seal the unit for airflow. Keeps out a lot of the hot engine air too with the high sides of the k&n box too. Definitely sounds better than stockDoes the top of the box get an airtight cover so that the cold air intake (the hole that leads to the fender) is working properly?
