All 4 struts replaced under warranty at 5000 miles. Now at 20000 miles 3 of the 4 are leaking with one being an oily mess. Don't know what FORD is using for these struts but my experience says they are not much good. As the strut leaks the ride is going away as well.

Truck is a 2011 Expedition XLT

I realize warranty in not in the picture now but I believe Ford should give me a break in the labor to install the ones I am going to provide. I know that probably won't happen.

Will soon be replacing the lousy Perrellie tires and struts.

Sorry you're having such troubles! I found the Pirelli Scorpion tires that came on my 2012 were pretty good, though I just replaced them at 55,000 with Michelin LTX M/S2 s. The new ones are secure, but feel a little squirmy. I have the hydraulic load-leveling suspension. Had it on my last rig, too, without problem for 0ver 200K.

I have to wonder what's causing your problems. Seems like if the first set were defective, replacement would have resolved it. But since it's happened again I have to ask what sort of driving you're doing that might contribute to the problem.

I bought a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4. At 6,*** miles, the dealer replaced the RF shock/strut because it was leaking. The technician found the leak while rotating the tires.

There have been several poor quality issues since the purchase and I am not very satisified with the quality - this was my first Ford purchase.

My truck is almost a garage queen. Truck was actually built in August of 2010 so very low mileage for a truck of its age. Closest thing to being off a paved highway is putting in the boat at the launch at the lake. One long trip to Wisconsin each year and that is about it.

I am confident my plans will fix these issues for good.

I had the same problem. Leaking at 40K, again at 60K. Replaced them with Monroe Reflex. Much better ride than the OEM dampers, anyhow. Hopefully they last a little longer, too.

My 2011 expedition made it to 50k before the front driver shock blew out. I replaced them with Bilstein 4600's (P# 24-197717) and the truck rides and drives much better. My brothers 2009 F150 front shock started leaking around 45k. Apparently the OEM ones are junk.

3 years old. 25K miles. Ford quality blows at best.

I should say this is a fleet truck however....a leak is still un acceptable. We own about 15 of these expeditions and they are almost as bad as the 6.0 PSD was.

Yes, that is pretty much what mine have looked like more than once. It's one thing to have Ford replace under warranty on their dime. But when I have to pay for it, some quality struts are going on.

Hi Pals,
Unfortunately, I bought Expedition '12 brand new.. I was shocked when noticed all struts leaked after 15000 KM !!! and when went to Dealer.. simply changed it all "as under warranty" !!
It's now 86xxxKM with 4 times replacing all struts !!! and all feedback from dealer "this problem only related to Expedition 2012, and now worries since struts we install are guaranteed 2 years/20,000km".... it's all unacceptable from that brand which slogan (Built Tough) !!!!!
I need to find a way to get connected to FORD USA just to clarify what's happening with their spare parts !!

Really.. Disappointed :(

This right here. First week I owned my Expedition the front shocks started clacking and leaking. Bought the Bilsteins off Amazon and couldn't be happier. Much better quality than the scrappy Monroe crap that is OEM. Ride is 100% better, smoother, braking is much better. Pretty easy to install with hand tools and a cheap spring compressor. Took me less than 2 hours to change both front shocks in my driveway.

Guess I ought to crawl under my new truck and keep an eye on them. I just broke 2,500 miles this morning on the way in.

Ditto on the Michelin LTX's on the Expy's. I installed them on both my '99 & '03 and they lasted well, worked fantastic in the snow and reasonably well in the wet. Expensive but lasted long enough to make them worth it to me.

I had a leaking rear strut replaced at ~80K under the extended warranty. My mom's '16 Explorer had both struts go at under 10K, so Ford isn't just using s*itty struts on the Expeditions.

Mine was done under the extended warranty, but the dealership had the parts/labor priced at nearly $800. The independent shop that initially found the problem told me it would be about $400. For comparison, the dealership charges $105/hr and the independent shop charges $80/hr.

What brand are you guys using? Seems like some like the Bilstein better and your saying that Monroe supplies the OEM/Motorcraft?

My 2016 RWD has never carried any weight or towed anything yet with less than 40K miles I have leaking rear struts for the second time. The first ones were replaced under warranty, but I l guess I'll have to pay to replace these. Are Bilsteins the best option, I won't put Ford parts on again?

I like the Bilstein 4600s and have no concerns they'll hold up. They will stiffen the ride a little, which suits me well, but if your partial to a softer, more buoyant ride (a la Chevy Surburban) then you may not like them.

Totally agree with Man UP Bilstein's are great I also have the 4600's I carry gear in the back so I don't even notice the little stiffness. ( my gear weighs enough to level the back with the front)
All I notice is a better riding/handling truck.
If you like driving you cant go wrong with the Bilstein 4600's.

Are they stiffer than stock?
