Does anyone know how many bulbs are in the speedo cluster for back lighting only? I want to order some LED...but dont want to have to pull the cluster to count them....

Baker, by no means are you stepping on my toes. Not everyone does things the way that I do. I tend to go for something slightly different and finding pre-made bulbs in something other than white is about next to impossible. If that is what you can handle, then by all means go for it. I'm getting ready to put in floor lighting into the wife's car that will be capable of 16.7 million colors. he he he he he he. Going to be fairly easy to do and is only running me $40 to do. Can't argue that.

Tallsville, the color palette is to keep the wife happy. Besides, you can use the colors that she chooses to figure out if you are in the dog house or not. Red, WARNING!!!!!!! LMAO. If it keeps the peace in the house, then I use it. The technology is out there, the question is whether you use it or not.

It's for the mood ring effect. She comes home and when she opens the door and he sees the color he will know if he can greet her or run and hide.

tallsville, these are buy over the shelf components. Look up 5050 SMD LEDs and the controllers. Wiring them up is easy, the LEDs are mounted on a 1/2" wide strip (1 led per inch). You cut the runs to the desired length (3" increments). It don't get much easier than that. THe hardest part is soldering on to a flexible copper pad. That isn't hard as long as you know a few tricks. The controllers can be had for a few bucks to include a remote control and the LEDs come in 15 foot rolls. But, that will go quite a ways.

tallsville, take a look at this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5M-SMD-5050...388?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e63e8f91c

Then all you do is you remove the 115VAC power supply and replace it with the 12 VDC from the truck. TADA, that is it. If you want to get fancy (like I am), you simply wire it up to a light fixture in the truck (may require a relay to allow more current capability as the strip can pull up to 3 amps, but the controller can handle up to 6 amps). Then as you open the door, the light strip turns on vice having to be turned on independently. Now you know the "Thermo Magic". It is out there, just have to know how to use it.
