I have a 2012 Expedition EL. What is it I need to do to be able to use LED turn bulbs in my turn signals? I tried searching must must have been doing something wrong.

TIA for any help y'all can give!

Do you have the Limited? Apparently only the Limited has signals controlled by the BCM, the rest have a traditional flasher. You can reprogram the computer with FORScan and get them to work.

Are you getting hyper, or double speed flash? You can also install load resistors on each line. Youtube has a lot of videos on this. Some bulbs allegedly have a resistor integrated into its base. I'm surprised to hear the Limited has a special BCM over other models incase you don't want to mess with Forescan.

I hope you were able to find a bulb that was as bright or ideally brighter than an incandescent once installed in the reflector housing. Or a bulb that have a noticeable difference between low output park mode and higher output flash mode. I went thru too many myself and was disappointed with results.

JDM ASTAR extremely bright leds. Will either need a electronic flasher relay box or Forscan. I’ve got pics of you wanna see them

I like my acme switchback Leds. White for marker/ Amber for blinker
Drivers blinker is on in the pic.

I used forscan to disable hyperflash for the rears but needed load resistors for the front.

No all of the 3rd gens hyperflash on turn signal use (but NOT energency flashers, oddly enough) unless programmed via dealer/forscan

Resistors on DRL/blinker switchbacks are a pretty bad idea... lots of meltable and burnable plastic in the area

Well resisters need to be mounted to something metallic. If not they can't disperse heat the way they were designed. Mounting them to a surface that will not transfer heat is how load resistors melt!

Also why would it matter if its a switchback? There's no more plastic than a traditional led bkinker

@gixer2000 If I remember correctly for your truck you can order an LED flash unit and replace the one under the dash. The newer trucks from 2015 up it is part of the BdyCM and FORScan can adjust that. That's what I did for my truck.

The flasher is listed for an 07 but it doesn't exist in the truck. Many people have searched including myself and never found it. The relay click is a from a speaker not the actual relay

That's odd. I wonder how they control it.
I forget what module I found the rears in forscan but the guys from the forscan group said the relay doesn't exist and can't do the fronts without resistors. I actually ordered the relay listed (ep11 I think it was) and spent 3 hours trying to find it before searching Google and the forscan group months later. Maybe it's on the lower end model but not on the limited.

What rear turn signal LED replacements would you guys suggest? Andy & gixer, are you both running LED’s front & rear?

Sorry for not getting back on here and answering sooner. To answer one of the questions yes it is a limited. But after reading all of the what ifs I think I'm just going to leave it alone. I did try adding them last year and what I got was the quick blinking syndrome. This happened on both fronts and backs. Like I said I think I'm just going to leave it as is. Thank you for all of your help!

Yeah I have all LED's. I prefer Morimoto, acme or profile but they can get expensive vs some stuff available on EBay.

All can be found at
Theretrofitsource.com
Lightwerkz.net

Acme switchbacks in the front and acme redrockets in the rear. This was before my load resistors were installed

I replaced my Tail lights with LED tail Lights. They came with resistors so I didn't bother to turn off the Hyper Flash for the rear.

I bought the red ones, but there are a lot of choices. If I did it again I might buy the chrome ones: https://www.carid.com/2012-ford-expedition-taillights/

The switch back lights that I bought I got from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4NF20Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had to use my Dremel on the base of the bulbs because the shoulders weren't deep enough to allow the bulbs to lock in place. Once I did a little grinding on them, the fit fine. :)

I bought the switchback LEDs for the front turn signals, disabled hyper flash in ForScan and yet I couldn’t get them to work at all. I returned them...
