Estimate Comments

This estimate for parts and labor is valid for 30 days. Prices listed are for estimated costs to perform the repairs as listed, following a visual inspection of the vehicle system. Upon disassembly of components, additional parts or repairs may be identified as needing replacement, and maybe subject to additional costs.

My estimate comes to the same prive, IF I INCLUDE a case of whiskey, cuban cigars and a couple of decent hookers.

Anyone care to rent a Lear jet and come help me do this on a Saturday?

Please don't quote this whole post :D

Dang what is the hourly rate at that shop? All Data calls for 3 hours on the plugs and 1.8 if your replace 2 or more injectors. I'd bet you can get motorcraft parts as cheap or cheaper than napa. List in my area for motorcraft plugs is 5.26ea, 75.75ea for coils and 155.96ea for new injectors.

I just got a quote too from an auto repair shop for $130.00

I guess I'm getting a good deal.

side note: How much would be a fair price to clean out the fuel injectors?

There are two ways of doing it: On car, or off car. On car, I assume you are talking about a motorvac service, and that price is about right, if not a little low. I hear good things about it, but you ARE buying a pig in a poke. You can not know for sure what is going on with the injectors. The other way is to remove them (not hard to do yourself), and have them cleaned and flow checked. Expect to pay about $30/ injector for that, but they should be good to go for a while after that, and you know the patterns and what not are all up to par.

Ditto, you can't know for a FACT that there wont still be funk in the screens etc, but you can buy rebuilt injectors for around the same price, so why not go that route?

Still looking at 8 x $40 + on replacing

Replace means instant swap. Clean means remove, transport, wait, pick up again, then put in.

True. Rebuilt fuel injectors is a myth though, there is no rebuilding. Rebuilt is the same as off the car cleaning, and flow checked. That also means new filters/ o rings.

Roger that, on the same page, but you can't click on a link that says "off the car cleaning, and flow checked". And like you stated, you already have the 0-rings and clean filters.
