Lock Rear Camera On

I'm heading out on a road trip in my 2014 Expedition with built in GPS and rear camera. Unfortunately I have a load in the back the almost completely blocks my view through the rear window.

Is there a setting or simple hack that can lick on the rear camera so I can see what's behind me while driving forward? I didn't find anything like that in wandering through the menus.
