Hey all. I'm new here. My name is Tammy and recently sold my 91 explorer for a '11 accent compact car for my job which I travel 2 hrs a day for and needed a reliable vehicle. I am considering getting back into the explorer world, as a camping/trail rig, but thought I might gather some info on the expeditions as well. I would be looking for an older model, one that isn't all that beat up that is in fairly good condition.
What I'd like to know is were there any major issues/complaints about the expeditions? I could go buy another 1st gen ex no problem, but I thought I'd check out the expys first.

expeditions are great! the only bad part about them is the gas with 10 mpg in the 5.4 the stuff gets pricey but outherwise they will get you anywhere you need to go

Yikes! Yeah, my exploder got better gas mileage than that, course it was only the 4.0L V6.

If you don't have a big family and gas mileage is a problem stay with an Explorer. If you want to tow, have space for a family, and real ride comfort go with the Expy

what 10 mpgs out of a 5.4 :eek::eek:.... something was wrong... mine averages 12.5 in the city and can get low 13s on the highway turning a 37" tire... with a few mods....

but an expedition is great... I have no problems with mine went from a lifted regular cab F150 to getting married and a kid so the expy is the way to go... plenty of room for gear and people and can go anywhere

Having used a Ford Crown Victoria over the last ten years until last December when I got my 2002 Expedition I am used to spend on gas. And since I have this one I really see no difference at all...I have had some minor issues: Changed the gas filter last week...and you should read about "hesitation" when it advances which happens to me very often.

Yeah 10 mpg is not normal, a stock X should get 14 city and 16 or so highway. My lifted X on 35s get 11.5 and 12.7.

damn idk i guess ima look for some things to save some mpg's

Yeah and that is with me having a lead foot and now finding out that the back spacing of my wheels are wrong (previous owner purchased the wheels), they are rubbing the caliper creating excessive drag, trying to find some inexpensive 1/8th or 1/4 inch spacer.
