Mice inside my 2015 Limited EL

I had the exact same thing happened to me in the fall. I own a 2015 as well. Except I drove mine to the dealership and they contacted me the day later after doing some work on it that there was a mouse nest in the rear compartment-with baby mice in it!!! Once they realize there are mice in a vehicle the dealer can no longer drive the vehicle. So it was towed two hours away to a place that was specialized in mouse removal/cleaning. Thank goodness insurance covered it. Bill was $1400 with tow and cleaning. I talked to the cleaners if they knew where they got in- he had no idea. His advice is dryer sheets under the seats.

I’ve used dryer sheets in some older vehicles I’ve stored for long periods of time...change out the sheets every 6 months or so...no mice problems.

I may use some in my Expy since it’s outside 24/7

I watched a chipmunk sitting on the left front tire of my 07.Threw a snowball at him and he disappeared into the engine bay. I had heard about an ultrasonic device and had bought a couple for my old Mercedes that's in storage. Decided to put one in the expy and haven't seen anything since. I did find acorn shells and sunflower husks inside when i vacuumed but nothing since. Doesn't draw to much on the battery either. The product name is mouse blocker. I actually found it from a thread on this forum. Good luck.

So I’ve caught six mice now. I
Literally set a trap every day, and every night I’m catching a mouse. I absolutely have to find where they are coming in. I have a friend at Ford who is currently an engineer there who spent 30 minutes with me on the phone today. He pulled up some body schematics and gave me some pointers on where to look. I’ll report more on this later.

Where are you parking? And have you checked that hole by the 2nd row bucket seats to see if that’s the entry point?

Where are you parking? And have you checked that hole by the 2nd row bucket seats to see if that’s the entry point?

I'm guessing a rubber body plug has popped out somewhere. They can be found in the firewall and in the floor. Sadly, some of these are completely inaccessible. (I once found one had popped out under the windshield of our Grand Marquis when I pulled the dash to replace the blend door and heater core. I was wondering how moisture was getting in and that was the culprit.)

Do you have a middle seat in the 2nd row? There is an extra hole for this seat that has to be plugged as it leads to the outside. If you have 2nd row Captain's Chairs, don't forget to check that hole. (Since it's hidden under the carpet that will not be easy! You might have to remove one of the Captain's Chairs in order to get near it.)

You might need to put the truck on a lift and go over every square inch of the underbody with a flashlight looking for access holes.

We drive 45,000 miles a year so yes we do eat in the truck. I keep it meticulously maintained and clean. I just spent $200 on an interior detail and the mice were still coming in. They seem to be attracted to the warmth of the interior of the truck. I have thoroughly checked the firewall for missing body plugs and nothing. I have already removed one of the two captains chairs and have lifted the carpet partially in the process of trying to find where they are coming in. A Ford engineer who is my friend told me to check the air diffusers behind the tail lights and one of them was actually peeled up and it may actually be the entrance where they are coming in. I am checking this using an infrared camera and will report back.

So I opted to completely remove the rubber flapped air diffusers and installed mesh in their place. Will stuff some insulation behind the mesh to filter dust out.

Wow that is pretty heavy duty. I sure hope you can stop the problem. Are you parking on concrete or gravel or dirt? you didn't see any little mouse ladders laying beside or underneath your truck did you?

Parking on asphalt. There’s a field nearby and it seems to teem with the critters. I almost wish I did see ladders....then at least I could see where exactly they were coming in without a doubt.

Be glad Ford hasn't gone too green yet. I read and don't know if it's true that Toyota used a environmentally friendly wire coating that attracts mice. The little buggers are chewing up the wiring on their new models. Ouch! That's going to cost Toyota some serious warranty work. I guess the old saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" holds true.

Also, logically, they'd HAVE to go up the lower control arms to get anywhere so start looking there
