So I'm replacing my exhaust dn Saturday and am wondering do I go with flow master or magnaflow? I have a daily 90 mile round trip commute and leave for work at 4:30am, however I also have the mentality of I own a V8 and am paying for the gas mileage so I'm going to at least enjoy the exhaust note. Any suggestions or thoughts? I really like a rich, robust exhaust note. My goal isn't necessarily what will be the loudest but what will sound the best overall
Thanks

Youtube has hundreds of exhaust note posts for these trucks and F-150's. I have heard Flowmaster gives a decent bump in gas mileage but that the drone at cruising speed gets on people's nerves. Drone doesn't bother me with my glasspack, so not everyone is the same.

Magnaflow will probably give a louder note (not speaking on experience, just what I seem to have found through other comments). Both will sound good if you are not looking to wake up the neighbors as you come home. You can ask the shop to just stick each muffler on the pipe and start it. Not perfect since nothing is welded, but it gives you an idea what each one sounds like.

If you think that a simple muffler swap is gonna improve mpg's then you have a surprise heading your way. Btw for best sound you need to look into corsa or borla pro xs

Yeah, I had to tear off the entire tailpipe section (the stock 2 1/4" POS) and toss a Flowmaster onto mine to make any difference. That along with the Gotts mod gained me about 3 MPG.
But the Flowmaster 40 with a drop down tip is a little loud and semi droanie... But that's why I have the Mach 1 audio system! Right? :peace:+

EDIT: Pics!!!!

I'm getting everything replace (pipes, cats, etc) so it'll be fully opened up. The shop offers a true dual setup but I can't afford the extra $500 to do it. And yeah my Mach audio isn't 100% working

have had the FM SUV50 series, and went with the 40 series after that one.
to each is own, highly-recommend listening to some of the stuff on the web.
would also ensure using the appropriate hangers, the rubber thingies too, as well as welding your connections.

I would disagree with "no drone" with glass packs as a blanket statement. Maybe if you just replace the muffler on a stock expedition there is little to no drone. Beyond that there is no guarantee.

When I first installed my dual 3" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler it was loud as hell and the drone made it impossible to carry on a conversation at cruise rpms.

Really? That surprises me. From all of the YouTube vids I have seen, the Magnaflow has caught my attention for possibly having the least... Good to know! I was going to buy one, you may have just saved me a hundred bucks.
I do still love the deep tone of the Magnaflow though...

I almost did the flowmaster 40 but opted with the glasspack instead since it was cheaper (I was in high school at the time). I would agree with Tom, my pack drones, which is fine by me, but people sitting in the middle row can't hear people in the front seats at normal talking volume.

I just make the people I don't like as much sit there and it all works out...

I would have liked to have gone with a spintech muffler but didn't have the time to order and wait for delivery. By the way, what is that intake silencer delete and what does it do?
