Always used a Garmin GPS. Now I am thinking about buying a 2011 Expedition with navigation. The navigation, radio, CD player, rear view camera all use the same screen. What happens when multiple functions are running? For example navigation and radio at same time or navigation on while backing into a parking space. What happens when camera comes on?

I have grown so used to my trusty Garmin GPS. It has never failed me. How do the turning prompts, turning arrows, voices, etc on the Ford navigation compare with a Garmin GPS?

Thanks.

radio/cd continues to play with while navigation is displayed or vice versa...when it notifies you of a turn or direction announcement it mutes music...give you direction...and then the music resumes...when backing up...regardless of what function is being used...everything is muted and camera is activated on your screen...when you go out of reverse...whatever function was operating resumes...standard for OEM and aftermarket radios/cd/dvd/nav units...

When in reverse the camera just takes over the screen visually, but everything works audio wise. Can't do touch screen inputs then of course, but then why would you while in reverse eh? ;-)

You can individually set the volumes for media, navi and phone so when they are activated or muted they're set the way you want. Cool feature IMHO.

I've used various Garmin units with car rentals and none compare to the new Sync system Navi. Again all IMHO.
