Hello all...
1st post, please help.

98 XLT 5.4

Issue:
Oil Cooler lines were leaking at crimped end near Oil Filter housing (under front bumper). Ordered new Oil Cooler lines from RockAuto. When bolting to engine side, cracked the oil filter adapter (not sure exactly what the part is called but here's the Part#: F75E-6B894-DB)

Called Ford to replace. Part is 'discontinued'. As I understand, Ford has done away with the Oil Cooler lines and now the oil filter is located directly on the engine block with Part#: XL3Z-6881-AA.

The main problem with all of this is that I have a hose leading from the radiator to the location where the original part broke. So I'm assuming I have an Oil Cooler.

Ford cannot tell me if the new part above (XL3Z-6881-AA) is for the 98 Expedition 5.4 with an Oil Cooler.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance for any info...

im thinking the part is the same with or without the cooler in the radiator... if there is no cooler in the radiator those lines fittings will have plugs in them...

Update...

KWT2000 - You are correct...

after much research, XL3Z-6881-AA has the option for the Oil Cooler but as KWT mentions, there is a plug if it is not needed.

Note: There are two different part numbers but they are identical:

XL3Z-6881-AA (and) XL3Z-6881-AB

Been a long time but need help....(98 Expedition 5.4)

With this new Oil Filter Adapter supplied by Ford (read above) since it bolts directly to the block, it is impossible to fit the oil sending unit onto it....

*** Has anyone else had to relocate their Oil Filter from the front bumper to an adapter directly bolted to the block?

Will try and get some pics this weekend...
