I’m dealing with a cold misfire that is short in duration and not intense enough to set a code. I’m trying to get mode 6 data (misfire counters) but my BlueDriver tool will not supply me the information. Can anyone recommend a scanner that can count misfires live on a 5.4L 3V Triton engine? The BlueDriver has it but just shows a dash and won’t conduct the test for me no matter how long it runs. Thanks.

You need an adapter that fully support MS-Can which the blue driver does not.

Are there any tools for under $200 that do that? If not I think I’ll let my shop diagnose which cylinder it’s on since they prob only need 2 seconds.

Thinking I got it without needing mode 6, I replaced the last plug I didn’t replace this week because it wouldn’t come out (had to use impact wrench) and it seems better so far. Also replaced all 8 boots. I soaked that well in penetrant after it was so stubborn and drying it out wasn’t enough. The penetrant worked it’s way inside the spark plug between the porcelain and 9/16 steel portion and ruined it. Replaced it with a new MotorCraft one. Def thinking I’m ordering the MX+ and Forscan on my phone because it looks way more useful than what I have for the future.

I see that you've already found your solution, but let me also recommend ForeScan and a PC. This is what I used to diagnose my misfire on my '07, plus it gav eme access to the As Built data when I replaced the ABS pump.
