My wife and I just put a deposit down on a new 2015 Ruby Red Expedition Limited. We should be finalizing the paper work and picking it up on August 11 when I get back in town from work and I was wondering if anyone knew where to get aftermarket LED tail lights. The stock ones leave something to be desired. Thanks.

We were just thru Katy, spent a week on Galveston Island, had a great time.

Mine were marketed under the brand name Anzo, model 311108. They appear identical to aftermarket company Eagle Eyes. Believe I paid $400+ several years ago, they are now $235 shipped. They are as bright, if not brighter than our other vehicles with OEM LED tail lights (G37 sedan and BMW 5-series)

http://www.amazon.com/311108-Expedition-Clear-Light-Assembly/dp/B0038AY32U

Very pleased with these lights, they are certainly not the cheap aftermarket LED's that you occasionally see - these could have (and should have) been OEM. I'd buy them again..

Edit- found a recent picture of my tail lights, but not illuminated.

Those are just about perfect except the Amazon link says they do no fit a 15. Maybe they just need to update their fitment guide??

So after driving around in our new expedition for a few weeks I really like it however have a short minor list of things Ford needs to look at changing.

First is the rear hatch, explorers have a memory feature so you can program it to only open so far, this would be EXTREMELY useful in the expedition because we cannot open the hatch with the truck in the garage, even with the garage door open it goes up so high that it hits the garage door above it. Already have a little scratch from this.

Second, the climate control stays on the previous setting when you turn the vehicle off and back on but the climate controlled seats do not. It would be awesome if I did not have to push the AC seat button every time i got back in the car.

Third, I with the fuel mileage screens gave you a gallons used reading like the F150 does.

Fourth, i love how i can program driver seat and mirror settings based on the keys but they need to be able to program the easy entry exit to keys too. My wife hates that feature and I love it so you guessed it, we disabled it.

Fifth, a couple more USB plugs in the back seat would be useful

Sixth, having the light emitted by the fog lights match the head lights would be cool,

That is all I can come up with at this point. Overall we really like the truck, still need to hitch it up to the boat to see how it pulls.

Congratulations on your new 2015 Expedition.

I ordered and purchased a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 - my first Ford in over four decades of drivinng.

I have a few things I do not like after driving the vehicle for 6,000 miles:

1. The proximity key only works at the driver's door.
2. The dome light switch is hidden behind the steering wheel and difficult to use quickly and easily.
3. The rear vent windows' switch is hidden behind the conversation mirror, when the mirror is opened.
4. Although the Limited model has standard 20" wheels and tires - the "full size" spare provided by Ford is only 18" (check your spare....).
5. The rear seat HVAC controls are difficult to easily access for the front seat driver and passenger - it takes multiple clicks on the screen to access it (then it disappears affter a few minutes).
6. I am 5'10" tall and can not reach the engine oil dipstick without using a stool. It it too low and short in the engine compartment. The dip stick tube and dip stick should be longer.
7. When the vehicle is shut off, the screen currently displayed disappears and must be called-up again when the vehicle is started.
8. The individual tire pressures can not be displayed like GM vehicles - I really do not like Ford's system (which only displays a warning light when a tire is low).
9. When the rear hatch is open, there is no light on the inside panel of the hatch to illuminate below the hatch (there is a light above the third row seating area but it does not illuminate the ground below the hatch at night).
10. The blindspot information system (BLIS) warning symbol in the outside rear view mirrors are too small and not very bright. I drive with my headlamps on in the daytime (rural areas) as the vehicle does not have daytime running lights. The warning symbols are too dim and small. (The warning symbol on my familiy's 2014 Impala LTZ is very large and bright at all times).
11. The rear switch to close the rear hatch is located inside the left rear of the vehicle interior, instead of at the leading edge of the hatch. It is not obvious to users where it is. The user must go to the left side of the vehicle and reach inside (and quickly get out of the way as it begins to close very quickly). It is a very stupid design.

I like the vehicle - it is quiet and comfortable, but some of the controls are poorly designed and placed.

Good luck.

Experienced the same problem somewhat. When your garage door is open, can you see any of it while standing in your driveway? On ours we could see much of the bottom panel. Standard 7 foot door opening only yielded a 6'8 opening. On the track, I moved the "up" limit switch closer to the opener, now the bottom panel of the door is fully recessed.

Not my pictures, but example of before. See how much of the bottom panel hangs down? This is actually a garage door installers example picture of his work...
Garage-Door-Opener-.jpg

And after. Bottom panel is nearly 90° to the opening.

Also, your power rear hatch also works manually. Grab the handle on the way up and put the door where you want it. Your interference with the power operation over-rides it. Hatch will stay pretty much wherever you park it.

Maybe a soft foam patch on the inside of your garage door (where hatch collides with it) will keep future scratches at bay.

Thats a good list, I just wish the proximity key would unlock all the doors if a key pad button is pressed twice in quick succession.
I don't think I have this "conversation mirror". I have a sunglasses holder and then the buttons for the rear windows and the sunroof. I dont see myself opening those rear vent windows much.
As long as the 18" spare fits over the brakes i am totally ok with that lol
You are right on about the TPMS. I wish I could see each individual tire. I thought this one did that but I must have been confused from looking at tahoes too.
The blis is a little hard to see but i dont have anything to compare it too, first vehicle i have owned with any feature even remotely similar to that
Also the rear hatch button placement would be better if it were on the bottom of the hatch itself but I have gotten used to reaching inside the vehicle. I am just blown away i can close the hatch without having to slam it shut!

We looked at Tahoes as well and we didn't like the 3rd row seating on the Tahoe, NO leg room unless you are like a 5 year old. Also the drivers memory feature only worked the seat on the Tahoe, I think the Expedition works the seat, mirrors, pedals, and steering wheel and this was huge for my wife since we share this vehicle and she hates having to change everything back to where she likes it. I also liked the higher towing capacity of the Expedition and the styling. The headlights on the new Tahoes look like eye lashes to me and its pretty horrible. Also to get a similarly equipped Tahoe it would have cost 3-4k more.

I've got an '11 EL, but I can relate to some of these.

2. This irritates me also. Even after driving the truck for 3 months, I have to hunt around for that wheel.

4. Whaaaa?! I never even thought to check. On the bright side, in over 15 years of driving SUVs, I have yet to ever get a flat.

8. Yep. We have the same problem on our Mazda, which frequently succumbs to nails and other road debris. When it's a slow leak, it's hard to tell which tire it is and of course it's usually the last tire I check that is leaking.

11. It is indeed a poor design. The button on the Escape is located on the underside of the door, so it's easy to access and eliminates the risk of having the door come down on your arm. It is, however, even harder to find as it's a tiny button in a place you wouldn't normally look. Now what irritate me most about that Expy button is that despite the fact that it's inside the vehicle compartment, you can't open the hatch with it. :/ I often close that hatch with the button while I am cleaning/vacuuming the inside the vehicle. In order to open it when I am done (so I don't suffocate when cleaning on an 85F+ day) I have to use the key fob, as that button does nothing when the door is closed, which makes absolutely no sense.

The driver door outside keypad can be programmed to unlock all four door with one push - the information is in the vehicle owner's manual. My wife owns a 2014 Impala 2LTZ and the proximity key works on all four doors and the trunk release.

I have owned GM vehicles for more than four decades and the Expedition was my first Ford. I looked a new Tahoe models and liike you, I did not like the third row seating space. I use that feature often and that was one of the main selling features of the Expedtion. The 2015 Tahoe also had six safety defects recalls midway through the model year - that convinced me not to buy one.

One other gripe - the Expedition does NOT have a HVAC passenger compartment air filter - I really like that feature on my GM cars. The salesman told me the vehicle did have the filter - but he was wrong.

I know the it can be programmed to unlock all the doors with only one push but I do not like that. When you are by yourself and hit it and all the doors unlock it give anyone a chance to hop right in your car on the other side, perhaps someone you don't want in your car like a mugger or thief. On our 370Z one push of the door button would unlock the drivers door but two quick pushes would unlock all the doors. I wish it worked like that.

I am really surprised they dont have a cabin air filter, this seems like an oversight by Ford IMO but that does eliminate one thing you have to pay to change ever so often lol.

I just changed the one on my wife's Mazda for the first time at 155K. Oops! The manual says you should visit Mazda service to have it replaced. Yeah ok, $30-35 and another $100 for labor for something that took me 90 seconds and $7. :p

Thought of another issue I would like to see changed, actually two. The easy entry/exit. I love it, my wife does not. We can program out seats and mirrors to our key fobs so why can we not also program this feature so when I drive the easy entry/exit is activated and when she drives it is not? Seems like a simple thing to do.

Also the lane change blinker, I don't like how it only blinks 3 times, it shuts off almost before I have even left my lane! It would be cool if you could customize the number of blinks in the settings menu. Like have 3, 5, or 7 blinks.
