I have decided to sell my long time baby. But do not worry! I am buying another Expedition. Which brings me to the reason behind my post.

I am selling my current 99 Expedition for a wrecked 02 expedition. I plan on rebuilding it with the money I get from selling my current Expo and the money I get for student loans (About $6k in my pocket a year). I'm looking to basically make this full aftermarket. Complete with a custom interior, nice sound stage, video for the inside. For the outside: body kit, new paint job, new wheels/tires, and HIDs.

Now for where I need you help. The engine. I don't even know where to start. But overall, I'm looking to drop about 10-11 grand into the mechanical work. But since I don't know much about engines or any of that stuff, need some places to start. I'm looking to make it go fast. As fast as I can for the money I have. What kind of options do I have?

Any and all suggestions/advice/help/insight is highly appreciated. Trying to start doing the research now so in a year, I'll be ready to jump into it head on.

Agreed, supercharging is really the only way to go. I'd either find a good lightning motor or get a decent rebuild and pop a 'charger on top.

I'm a little confused, why would you sell your current expedition for a wrecked one? It would make sense if you were going to get a wrecked 03+ that has a different body style and better suspension, but as far as I know there's not much difference between a 99 and an 02. With your 99 atleast you'll know a lot more background info on it and won't have to deal with all the issues you get with a wrecked one. Like tonydiv suggested, I would rebuild your current engine and add a supercharger to it.

I'm selling my truck for a wrecked truck because I can sell my truck for money, get a wrecked/salvaged 02 model (has some features that I want like a sunroof) for about a grand. Then I can put all the money I get from selling my Expo into the salvaged one along with the money I get for financial aid.

A salvaged car with do much better because I'm wanting to do a custom interior and stuff so a Expo that already has the insides gutted out will make it easier to do the inside.

None of this makes sense...

You are going to waste so much money fixing up a wrecked truck when you already have a perfectly good one to start with. Seriously, I doubt you net more than a couple grand from the sale and you will easily spend that fixing a truck that has a salvage title. It makes more sense to sell the parts you don't need on your current truck. Not to mention all the time and work you will waste as well trying to repair a salvage truck.

And more importantly, how are you spending your student loans on your truck? Student loans are to pay for school. If the money is being spent on the truck, how are you paying for school? To me, that sounds like you don't need your student loans...

Ok, I didn't even think about just selling parts out of my truck instead. That sounds like a much better idea. And my student loans are for school. I get 6 grand a semester for school. I only need 3000 for tuition. So that leaves me with 3000 in my pocket.

Guys like you ruin it for everyone. Being that this is an open forum, I hope someone with authority reads this and cancels your student loan. It seems like you need more than schooling can provide. Get rid of something that works and buy something that is broke. Common sense can't be taught in school.
