I just purchased a 2015 Expedition. I had the vehicle for about a week and half. I am just leaving a meeting and I go to unlock the door with on touch of the keyless entry pad and it wont work (have key fob in my pocket). So I pull the key fob out and unlock the door. I go to start the vehicle and I am unable. On the left side of the dash, I see a "no key detected" warning just like when I don't have the key fob in the vehicle. However, the fob is in my hand. I call the local dealer and they ask me to try the other fob. So I have my son drive 45 minutes and guess what? The other fob doesn't work either. I ask the dealer where the emergency start is on the vehicle, since it is no where to be found in the user manual). They tell me there is none and that I need to call Ford roadside assistance (later I find out its in the console). I have the vehicle towed to the local dealer.

This was a week ago. They first tell me that they found the error code, but no one knows what the code means. They said they called Ford engineers and they did not know what the error code was either. Finally after 4 days (Friday) of trial and error, they believe its the push button starter module, which has to be shipped from the supplier expected to arrive on Monday.

I get a call on Monday that they tried the module and it still doesn't work. Now they are going to call in the Ford field engineer and who knows how long this is going to take.

I have done a lot if internet searching on this subject and have found many others (different Ford vehicles) that had the same thing happen and many never had it resolved that I could read.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced the same Issue???? Please let me know.

Heading Into my 3rd Week

I am now heading into my 3rd week in service with no fix and they are waiting for the Ford Engineer to show up.

The fob doesn't happen to have battery does it? My girlfriend has a 2014 Mazda 3 that had this situation and it turned out the dealer sold it to her with both fobs having bad batteries... Luckily I am a locksmith and I had several extra batteries which fixed the problem for her. I don't know if this will be any help but the Mazda had the same message and this is the only thing that worked

Hello,

Did you ever get this issue resolved?

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 that I ordered and purchased new (build date is March 2015).

Now at 6,*** miles, intermittently the dashboard will display a "no key detected" message after I enter and start the vehicle - then place it in drive and begin to drive away. If I clear the message, I can continue to drive. I have the push button start.

I carry the fob in my front pocket and have not changed where I carry the fob.

I am concerned that if I return to the dealer, they will not be able to find a problem. I have had several warranty repair issues already and I hate returning to the dealer for repairs. I also don't want to be stranded as I often drive in rural areas and have small children with me.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

They resolved by reloading the original software and I got it back in Mid February. However, I started having problems with it not detecting the key and the keyless entry stopped working intermittently. It has been back in the shop now for two weeks +

Thank you for your update. If the issue is resolved, would you please post more information?

I bought the vehicle new (ordered) with 2 miles on it. It has the heavy duty towing package. The first week I drove it, several times I received a "trailer wiring fault" warning message. After the first week, it stoped and has not recurred. I have never used the vehicle to tow and have not even opened the covers on the four and seven pin electrical connectors.

I'm afraid this vehicle is going to have numerous computer or wiring problems that will never be fixed.

Thanks again.
