Good afternoon fellas,

I decided to do a write up on replacing the column shift lever due to my OD not working. I got everything back together with new lever from rockauto and for some reason i still cant get the OD to come on or off. Do you think it could be a fuse? Do i need to drive around a bit? I'm stumped. Any suggestions are welcome.

Also, how can i upload pics here?

Thanks in advance

why did you decide to replace the shift lever? And please don't answer because the O/D wasn't working. What troubleshooting did you do to lead you to replace the shift lever?

Yes there are fuses for the transmission circuits

These transmissions are electronically controlled so there shouldn't be a fuse just for the overdrive solenoid. I would expect a fuse for the tcm if it has one. If you want to know what is happening a good scan tool that has transmission commanding/scanning capabilities is needed.

Central Junction Box / fuse 29 (5a) - transmission control switch. I think if this switch is on the od is off. A blown fuse should still give you overdrive.

My lever was broken anyway (plastic roughed up etc) Prior to replacing i checked the wire coming from lever to hook up to make sure it wasn't chaffed. Not much you can do to troubleshoot the level other than looking at button /button contacts and the wire.

I'll take a look at it. I do believe i have torque converter shudder (highway rumble strip feel at 45-50MPH), i'm wondering if that could have a effect on the OD.

You may still have od if the tc isn't locking up. Next time you are running @55 mph push the od button and see if the rpms go up higher.

Did a little reading and this generation uses the pcm to control the transmission, so there isn't a separate tcm.

Check fuse #29 5A under the dash. If good, you may have to check for continuity from the switch to the PCM.

Success!!! :big_banana_Dance:

It was the fuse, i swapped that out and the new stick lit right up. Thank you! Now, just got to figure out what made it blow to begin with.

If anyone still wants the write up let me know and i will submit.
