Okay, engine lost oil pressure and started knocking a little. Pulled the oil pan to find some metal in it. Pulled rod caps, number 1 has spun, 3,6&7 have some play. No scoring or damage to the crank. It is a 2003 5.4 with 170,000 miles. My question is should I change the oil pump when I replace the rod bearings or did the spun bearing cause my drop in oil pressure? Any advice is appreciated.

I don't know, if it ran with out oil pressure. id think do the whole thing. if the rod bearings are bad . just replace # 1 and try it. see if it knocks

Thanks for the advice, this is a low priority project right now but I will update when the rod bearings and oil pump are done.
