So, there are quite a few threads in here over the years, and for different Gen, on replacement lights. Be it a housing replacement or bulbs.

In any case, I think the first thing I'm wanting to try is the fog light bulb replacement on our 06 Limited. Partly because the lens is nice and clean on there and not on the headlights. And, because it would be easier to compare in being able to turn them on or off.

So, I've looked around, and there are a number of LED replacement bulbs, for fairly cheap on ebay/amazon that would seem to work. Just wondering if anyone has recently tried any of them? I know LED tech is constantly advancing, so what would have been bad (or expensive) just a few years ago, may be a great option now.

I know lumen ratings are often lied about on china based stuff, but can anyone give an accurate number of what stock is? I'm tempted to just amazon it, and if no good, send it back, doing only prime for the chances. There are better as in cheaper options on eBay, but kinda unknown, since it doesn't allow the free prime send back option.

Currently, headlights have been sanded down, and polished, to get them as good as possible, but they are at the need to be replaced point before being perfect, so that'll be step two in this light upgrade. Wife is complaining the lights are not very bright, so good reason for me to upgrade!

Thanks,
Josh

I have always strayed away from anything that isn't a brand I know or can research. Thus, no cheap bulbs from Amazon. I have bulbs from www.xenonhids.com in my 06 Limited. I also replaced both of the headlight housings while I was at it and plan to replace the fog housings in the next couple of weeks. I will take some pictures tonight when it starts to get dark and post here for you to see. I have also replaced the puddle lamp and turn signals as well as the front turn signals with LED. For those I used Sylvania Zevo LEDS. They cost more than the ones on Amazon but I would rather pay a bigger price now and know that I am getting quality than to go with some cheap chinese crap on Amazon that I may end up having to replace later anyway.

I put these for lamps in mine: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BAZCJCG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I absolutely love them, they work perfect too! Id like to go HID or LED but cant find anything that doesnt cost an arm and a leg!

Id like to find a good replacement LED headlight bulb, or something close to the 5500k color in a "normal" bulb. I put in these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00480FIEG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but, the color isnt white enough...

Lights look nice. What bulbs are in the fog lights? Or are those not replaced yet, and you are waiting for new housings?

Since I have no idea what the reflector is like for the mirror turn signals, what type of bulb did you put in there? That looks a ton brighter than what (I assume factory style) or at least more bright yellow. Clear or amber color LED in those?

Thanks for the video. A lot more helpful that the plethora of text only reviews, or someone just taking a shot of the bulbs head on, and really gives an idea of the light (looks about twice as white, which is good in itself).

I've had very good "luck" if you want to say that, on eBay/Amazon and the like, as long as I take a little time to compare. Only had one key that didn't program, and that was refunded, everything else has been great in nearly 20 years online stuff, and I've save a LOT!

Just an FYI, since I was curious:

Hello Josh,

Our LEDs are manufactured in China.

Thank you,

I have the LED's from XenonHid's in the fogs as well, have not replaced the housings yet. I plan to do that soon as well.

I used White Sylvania Zevo LED's in the mirror turn signals and puddle lights. The bulbs I used can be seen here:

As for the reflector it is your typical reflective plastic like on the headlights with the amber lens on the outside. The Part of the lens where the puddle lamp is is (clear) to allow that light to be white.

I have bought many things on ebay in the past as well. Both automotive and not. I tend to be a bit more hesitant for some reason when it comes to electrical / electronic items as I prefer to be able to put my eyes and hands on products of that type prior to purchase. I ordered the Lows, Highs and Fogs online because the company had high reviews and their warranty was the best I had seen. The only drawback to them is that when you fill out their online form for warranty or tech support, it sometimes takes them a bit of time to get back to you. Apparently they have a very small staff. Once you get in touch with them though the service they provide is good.

If you decide to go with LED's, PM me before you purchase and I will give you a couple of pointers that I learned by making mistakes along the way.
