I have tried setting my right side optional gauge to transmission temperature. And it works for the remainder of the drive. But next time I get in the right side optional is back on boost.

Is there a step I am missing? Do I need to "save as permanent" or something?

Update for rookie mistake: I have a 2023 Limited SPP w/ large screen.

No, poor design. Mine is the same and others report same. Ford is really not good at these full digits dash/controls. I have several glitches in mine.

Let's hope Ford engineers are monitoring these posts. I can also confirm the same botched functionality. It's silly, really. You have to go fairly deep into menus to change it back to temp.

My 2019 Limited seems to stay on trans temp, if you mean the top right fake gauge.
I think the people having problems are with the new as of 2023 model with the digital instrument cluster that is paired with the SYNC 4A 15.5" infotainment screen.

I can confirm for a ‘24 Platinum with Sync 4A. Behaves this way.

How do you get the transmission temps in the first place? Can’t find that setting in my 22 Timberline w/ the 4a screen.

It’s in the settings accessed through the steering wheel control of the information screen in the gauge cluster.

There is a tranny temp gauge but it doesn’t show exact tranny temp. And I found the gauge indicator doesn’t even move (at least unnoticeable for my eyes) between 190 and 210. I purchased an Ultra Gauge MX to read the exact temps of Tranny and Engine coolant.

Yeah, this is really what I meant. I know how to cycle the gauges but really those are just "middle is in operational range" and not actuals. Would love if that was accompanied by the actual temps below the gauge, kind of like the DTE under the fuel gauge

There is no way to show exact numbers unless you use Forscan, which may (or may not) void some factory warranted items. By adopting the Ultra Gauge, there is no risk to void any warranty.

2022 limited 4A and have same issue. Seems nothing can be saved in the system (gauge, drive mode, etc…).

I can also say the soft in my Sync glitches fairly frequently. What I notice with the glitches is that Mach-E options/settings show up.

Marginally better system than the sync in the 2011 explorer limited I had.

Has anyone figured out how to read the actual temperature in degrees?
Bumping the question again.. How do I get the readout in degrees on the 22+? I also see on my VIN's part list that I have an external trans cooler.. so I'd be interested to see if that's doing anything.

You would have to use FORScan and an OBD2 scanner. You can set the temp numbers to show above the gauges. Not sure if it works for 2022 and newer. You can Google it or look in the FORSCAN thread here.

We have a 2023 expo platinum and it does the same thing, I had my mobile ford service guy come out and he couldn't fix it, he went back to dealership and checked three other expos and they all did the same thing, set it to trans temp, shut engine off, it resorts back to boost. I've turned it into Ford a dozen times, sent messages thru the vehicle function on Sync but don't think they've fixed it yet. My service guy also did do a full Sync reset on our expo and brought it up to date with patches which had never updated since we bought in aug 23, it now is doing OTA updates just fine now.

Im so sick of 4A that I hate the thought of buying another Ford even though we like the vehicle a lot otherwise.

We got an update yesterday but I have not driven it yet since. Will be interesting to see if the sound system still comes on even though it was off when we last shut the vehicle off, if we still get asked which trailer we want to be the default most of the time we start the vehicle even though we are not trailering, if the transmission temperature does not stay on as per this thread, if every time we get an incoming call our contacts take up the entire screen when we get off the call even though we never did anything to want the contacts on the screen…

This is disappointing to hear that the issue isn't resolved in more vehicles. I just checked my messages in my Fordpass app and it isn't telling me which version, but I received an OTA update many many months ago and my trans temp gage now stays in place. Ford haven't figured out how to fix the update that broke the lower center of the dash showing you which song you're listening to unless the radio screen is up, but they did fix my gauge customizations...
