This is disappointing to hear that the issue isn't resolved in more vehicles. I just checked my messages in my Fordpass app and it isn't telling me which version, but I received an OTA update many many months ago and my trans temp gage now stays in place. Ford haven't figured out how to fix the update that broke the lower center of the dash showing you which song you're listening to unless the radio screen is up, but they did fix my gauge customizations...

Honestly the tranny temp gauge, as well as the engine oil temp gauge, is not useful to me by all means. I have to purchase an Ultragauge MX to show real numbers of the transmission oil temp.

I have real numbers on my temp and tranny temp gauge.
Real #’s on permanent display or do you need to drill down on menu?
I have exactly same truck like yours and need to figure out how to get the temp display permanent above the little idiot transmission gauge

Yes, Real numbers. I used ForScan to add them. And I switched the Turbo gauge to the Transmission Temp gauge.

I managed to bring up the transmission gauge, but now to ForScan: Is ForScan mandatory or can a friend of mine running a repair shop with all kinds of diagnostic and scan equipment do the same thing?

I'm not sure. It requires programming, so diagnostics software would have to have programming capabilities. And your mechanic would need to know the codes necessary to program or change anything. Forscan has those capabilities built in.
