I finally talked to the general manager of the dealership and he apologized for the lack of communication and offered me a $1000-$1500 discount. I have until the end of the month to make a decision. I really don’t like the rounded front end so in my head I’m telling myself just wait to see the 2025.

I would IMMEDIATELY tell that dealership to go straight to hell, don't stop, don't pass go and GIVE ME MY FRIGGIN MONEY BACK, LIKE YESTERDAY, WITH INTEREST & INCONVENIENCE FEE OF 20% OF THE PURCHASE PRICE....

or alternatively:

HAHAHAHAHA.... this is what I would be saying, all the way to my lawyers office !

If there's no other ford dealers nearby, then yea, take your money & run as fast as you can to the nearest Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade dealer
:D
It was only a $500 deposit, fully refundable. I should have ordered both the Expedition and the Yukon at the same time and then decided.

Dis you drive both before ordering? Do you like them equally the same or one over the other? Did you test a wagoneer, armada, or sequoia? Get which one you like more, these things are 80k, dont waste your decision on a car you don't rele care for

kr1stee - Sorry you're having to go through this mess. I know for me, it would ruin the experience. I could not find what I wanted in a new 2024 Ford Expedition in local Dealer inventory. But I looked and kept expanding my search and finally found the exact model with the options and colors I was looking for at a Ford Dealership 1,000+ miles away in Texas. I went and got it and drove it home. That made the experience all the better for me.

I can relate, took me two years to find mine. Granted, it is a fleet model that most dealers have never even seen, let alone stocked or sold, but still...

I mean...you can tell anyone you want anything you want, but there is such a thing as contract law, and I, for one, have no idea what Alaska statutes have to say in a case like this.

Out of curiosity, how did you come up with 20%?

I would drop by the paint shop. Ask to see the car and the before pictures of the damage. If it did not require reforming the panel and/or filler I would then judge the job by how well the paint was blended. Maybe you can get a concession in the form of services or extended body/paint warranty.

Well, here on the mainland, contract law (which varies some by state) generally says that if you pay for someone for something & it is not delivered on time and in the stated condition as expected, then an immediate refund is required, no questions asked, unless a reasonable explanation is offered, which is then up to the buyer to accept or decline.

And the fact that the dealer tried to hide the damage from & not tell the buyer about it is considered FRAUD everywhere I've ever lived...mainly because they paid for a "NEW" vehicle but would be getting a "Refurbished" one... oh no, oh hell no, & ho f&ck no !

And 20% is a normal INconvenience fee that is added to the full refund amount, as consideration for the time & hassle of having to go find another vehicle somewhere else... call it "pain & suffering" or "mental anguish" or whatever term you wanna use, but it is a fairly standard practice in most places...

Although I am NOT a lawyer, I have studied contract law & execution quite extensively through my dealings with tons of major companies...

However, my daughter IS a corporate lawyer, and she concurs with what I have said here !

Except who pays for a truck in it's entirety when placing the order? No one. OP put down a refundable deposit. So they hadn't actually paid for the truck yet and are entitled to a full refund of the $500 and all they have to do is ask for it. A laywer will cost you way more than $500 and would be money wasted in this situation. It's all inconvenience at this point.

I'd wait until the repair is finished, inspect the repair, and if it's undetectable, accept the vehicle. 6 months or 6 years from now it won't matter anyway.

Ordered a 2024 in February. Arrived on May 22nd per the tracking, never received a call. I called yesterday, June 3rd, to check on when I could expect to pick it up because I need to sell my current vehicle. I was told they found a scratch and it was at a body shop to get repainted. Didn’t offer me any other options other than canceling the order. They said the scratch is deep and about 2 inches long on the right rear panel above the tire. I know it happens sometimes but it still bothers me.

Next day and I still don’t have a time frame on when it will be ready or what kind of warranty will come with the work done. They can’t even give me the exact date they brought it over there.

I’m starting to feel like I don’t want the car anymore because it doesn’t feel like a brand new car now and for $70,000+ I expect no work needed to be done before I even get to drive it.

We have limited dealerships in Alaska and if I order another one or a different vehicle I’m looking at 4-6 months. Starting to think I should just wait for the 2025 models to come out or order a Yukon.
RUN!!

I would have to think long and hard about continuing a relationship with this dealer. It sounds like they really don't care about you as a customer and how will they take care of future issues. I would find a different dealer no mater what.

FRAUD is fraud no matter the amount of the payment, if you pay (deposit) for a NEW item, you must get a NEW item in return for said payment, plain & simple....

And if they can't provide what you want, you just ask for your money back. Where's the fraud?

You also might want to check with your lawyer on what constitutes "New" because dealers have been using the "New" loophole for a long time. Take a look, you'll find that the owner or some other person drove a particular unregistered vehicle around with dealer tags on it for many months putting many miles on it and they put it up for sale as "New" because it's never been registered before. Still gets the new warranty starting at the date and mileage you get the vehicle for, but it's still able to be sold as "New." A scratch fixed would still be considered new. But go ahead and waste your money with a lawyer for a refundable deposit on a vehicle that still qualifies legally as new.

Well we ended up picking it up. So far I am happy with it! They gave me a discount for the amount of the destination and delivery charge. Now I just need to get new rims and tires before winter. Any recommendations for a screen protector?

FYI 2025 Dashboard is terrible. Tesla like gimmicky. I am all for technology but its a little too much. Everything uses a mouse type thing on the steering wheel. I have had a good feeling about all tech and its success but I have a bad feeling about the 25 dash not being popular in the long run.

They say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". You may not like it but others will buy it and be happy. That is how it works.

If this repair shows up on CarFax or if you trade this back into the same dealer (who knows about the repair), you are going to take (at minimum) a $5000 hit on the sale. Especially since you don't have pictures of the original scratch to show a perspective buyer that it was not accident damage.
