Your console looks good. I'm not sure how I would attach it though, as there's no grommet or screw holes left in my ceiling, just a metal bracket riveted to the interior window frame.

PM me with asking price, please... and I'll marinate on that! ;)

It clicks into headliner, headliner should have a hole like this

If it still does, you're OK, if not... prolly not worth the hassle.

Unless you get another headliner (for THAT, shop local for sure)

My headliner has been friggin butchered, so I doubt it would fit - see first picture of this thread. Yours appears to be all factory cut out, whereas mine was cut to fit the custom made console they put on there :

We have police packs at work and the way installers would do is just rip away whatever was on there from the factory and custom weld control panel holders (consoles) out of aluminum, then fit them to whatever hole they made in the headliner. Typically though the cars would be retired with these custom-made consoles still on, as there was no reason to remove them - plus it leaves a friggin big hole if you do! It really depends on the place too, some prefer to mount everything in the center console instead of overhead console.

I don't know why the department that owned my SSV removed the custom overhead console from it when they sold it... (scrap value, lol?) These custom consoles are rarely recycled, as there are variations between model years and a typical patrol vehicle will last about 5 years - by that time new models come out and you need a new console anyway. Usually.

Oh, the joys of buying used patrol cars... lol!

(I still love my Expy, it's just a pain in the ass to make it look half decent inside!)

....buy a headliner off a junkyard? Get local, it costs less to buy than to ship

Any 3rd gen should work, as long as it matches SWB/EL and sunroof/no sunroof options

In my area, there aren't many 3rd gen Expeditions at junk yards... hence the 2004 Explorer consoles.

Even on the streets, Expeditions are somewhat of a rarity. It probably has to do with our ridiculous engine displacement tax on anything larger than 3.9L. As an example, my 5.4L will cost me almost TWICE in yearly registration fees as a vehicle of 3.9L in engine displacement or smaller... to the tune of almost $500 a year (******* socialists and their "global warming" money siphoning excuses!)

This may be a project for the future, though... When I find a junked 3rd gen. I also need interior panels and all the works for the rear doors, as mine has had the "door panel delete" option to keep criminals from running away... and now passengers in the back are locked in until you open the door from the outside. No windows that roll down, either. I think they are sealed windows, as even the driver door controls can't open them.

Well, I've figured it out:

Black : Ground
Green : Positive 12V
Black with blue stripe : dimmer switch control (positive 12V when on)

The other two wires are for the sunroof.

Its the same exact thing as any other 3rd gen without a sunroof has - maplights, flipdown panoramic nanny mirror, and sunglass holder

Is it possible to remove the nanny mirror and install a 2nd sunglass holder?
