The passenger tail light on my 2000 Expedition doesn't illuminate when the lights are turned on, but the blinker and brake light work fine. I replaced the bulb, but that didn't fix the problem. I tried a couple of different bulb sockets, but that made no difference either. Does anybody have an idea of where the problem might be?

Thanks.

Being the other tail light works and the front lights are working that lets us know the fuse is good It appears that you have an open circuit in the wire that feeds power to the tail light or a bad ground for that lamp. Get a test light or a volt meter and test the wire for voltage. make sure that you connect to a good solid ground

I've been looking under the carpeting at the wires, and I found that this orange wire was broken. Does anybody know if this wire has anything to do with the tail lights? I'm guessing that it's for the defroster grid if it's not for the tail lights. The wire is broken at the front passenger side door.

There is no voltage at the connector for the bulb socket.

After looking more closely, I think this is the antenna wire. I didn't think of that before because someone hooked up an auxiliary antenna, and the radio still works.

I had an issue with my pass side tail lights. I don't remember exactly what it was doing but it was something odd like what you are explaining. It ended up being the multifunction switch. My wipers started to turn on by them self's and that how I figured out my tail light issue. When I changed the switch in the in the column I hot glued the plug in because its very common that some of the wires in the plug will have the clip on it brake off and come unplugged or wires pull out of the plug from moving the steering wheel up and down. Mine also had both issues.
