The original holds 8qts...this one old 3 more..plus I like the tubes going through the pan for airflow....to each there own....like I said my wife is a good sport, but with getting ready to move money is tight...I replace the the drain plug and this particular one has the neopreme around it...when I took the old one out and looked at it...it could see a couple of flat spots or indentations on it...thought I had it fixed to the next morning...nothing ever goes that easy...go figure...

new trans pan on

Got the new trans pan on today...Looks good...was almost 90 here today and drove it for a while and noticed a 15degree to 20 drop while moving and a 12 degree while idling...so it was running about 132 degrees...someone asked me about a longer filter...they actually have a zinc bracket in the pan...I have attached the picture.

Trans pan update

Well after inspecting the old pan...the source of the leak was found...it appears that the treads in the pan are like a pressed in bolt...and someone has attempted to weld it in place because when the drain plug was tightened it was just spinning the threads...however some of the weld managed to get through and tore 2 little spots in the neopreme on the drain plug...and did the same thing to the new drain plug I installed...so as much as Ford had a great Idea putting a drain plug in the pan...they could have spent another dollar or two on engineering something a little better....or they just want you to buy another pan from them...wrong answer...old pan was 3" thick the new pan is 6.5 and the cooling tubes that go through the pan are 5/8
