problem with sunroof?

hey im having a bit of a problem with my sunroof... the weird part is it works perfectly fine but there is a metal piece inside that clanks around and makes a ton of noise when you open it or close the fabric part. also when my subs hit it vibrates and makes noise.. has anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it? thanks

The water trough has come loose or broke off. It is fairly common. Retrieve it and see if it can be reattatched. Ford has updated parts for this concern outlined in TSB 03-11-10. The total for the parts is about $165 not including labor. If the trough is not replaced it will leak water onto the top of the fabric cover and then leak into the headliner. You may also notice water leaking from the grab handles on the A-pillar. I just ordered parts to fix mine with the same problem. It never leaks when I wash it but if it rains hard it would. Thanks for the timely info. Sunroof started dribbling just before everything froze up here. Should be OK until March.
Do you know if there is a full text version of the TSB available?
Our new owners didn't renew the Alldata subscription. Lost all of our good info. If it's not a German car we're working in the dark here.

That is exactly my problem its leaking in those exact places, good thing its not raining now but during summer and fall it had some leaks. need to get it fixed soon thanks for your help

You have to remove the glass from the sunroof. There are 2 T30 torx bolts on each side that can be seen from the inside with the sunshade open. Once the glass is out, you should be able to just bolt the new trough across the back right under where the back of glass meets the body. You will see one small phillips screw on each side. Remove them and use them to bolt new trough down. Reinstall the glass and leave torx bolts loose and adjust glass so seal touches all the way around and glass is level in the opening and with roof line. If there is damage to the 2 plastic pieces the trough is attatched to they will also have to be replaced and that should be left to a pro.
